  • NGS Provider Outreach and Education attended and presented at the New England Rural Health Association Conference on November 6th and 7th. We presented “Understanding the Latest Medicare Trends to Save You Time and Money!”. Aside from the wide variety of informative breakout sessions and many exhibitors, this conference brought light to the complex issues our rural communities face on a daily basis. Highlights from the conference included a CT Plenary Panel Discussion in addition to a Federal Panel Discussion. The Plenary Panel included a dynamic discussion featuring healthcare leaders and experts across Connecticut who shared insights about issues facing Connecticut’s rural communities. Plenary Panelists: • Sean Scanlon, Comptroller, Connecticut Office of the State Comptroller • Leonardo Ghio, MBA Community Based Project Director, Northwest Hills Council of Governments • Joanne Borduas, MSN, MBA Chief Executive Officer, Community Health and Wellness Center • Michele Scott, MS Tribal Councilor, Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation • Melissa Meyers, MHA Chief Executive Officer, Generations Family Health Center Attendees also had a rare opportunity to hear directly from Federal agency partners and spend one-on-one time with them. They started with a facilitated panel discussion and then separated into small groups where they had a chance to speak with agency representatives in an informal “fireside chat” setting.
