Born in Galveston in 1878, this young man worked on the Galveston docks as a longshoreman. He later became a prize fighter, winning the heavyweight championship of the world in 1907. His name was: a. Sonny Liston b. Jack Johnson c. Felix Cora More than a fighter, he was a trailblazer who refused to be defined by limits. His legacy still inspires us to stand strong, break barriers, and own our greatness. #BlackExcellence #JackJohnson #BoxingLegend

To combat misinformation and racism, I have created several critical learning points about Juneteenth for my Big Kids. Here are the five lessons I teach my children as we honor the history and celebrate Juneteenth: 1. The Emancipation Proclamation did not "free the slaves." 2. The 13th Amendment only partially abolished slavery. 3. Black people freed themselves. 4. Honor Mrs. Lee and Black Texans. 5. Black people are still owed acknowledgment, compensation, restitution, and rehabilitation. If you want more resources to teach about Juneteenth, check out my BMAC community. https://lnkd.in/gT7_UxfK I’m Rooting for You Britt
