The NIAGARA Project EU aims to help drinking water treatment plants overcome key challenges including the presence of emerging pollutants, the formation of organic compounds during disinfection processes, and a lack of analytical tools for real-time monitoring of water contaminants among others. To tackle this, the NIAGARA Project is pioneering innovative solutions to enhance water treatment processes, including: 🔬 #Biosensors for real-time monitoring of emerging contaminants 🧪 Enzymatic Degradation Systems for sustainable pollutant removal ☀️ UV/TiO2 Photocatalysis for safer water #disinfection 📊 Real-Time Risk Management using advanced predictive models 🔗 Learn more about NIAGARA and its mission to safeguard water quality by reading this article: https://lnkd.in/d8bDJa3D

Current standards for detecting, identifying, and quantifying pollutants in water, like HPLC-MS and GC-MS, have significant limitations⚠️. #Biosensors generate unanimous consensus among the scientific community, offering high accuracy, precision, and robustness ✅. However, most biosensors focus on wastewater, while drinking water monitoring in Drinking Water Treatment plants remains unvalidated ❌. Optical label-free biosensors have huge potential for detecting small organic pollutants, but mainly at the lab scale and for single-analyte detection 🧪. 💡 The NIAGARA Project EU is tackling this challenge! Our goal is to develop a cost-effective, multi-analyte biosensor for routine use in DWTPs, ensuring high-quality drinking water before it reaches consumers 🚰. 🔎 But this is not all! Follow us and visit our website to stay updated on our holistic approach to better understand, manage, prevent, and treat water pollution 💧🔬 https://lnkd.in/d4suhiE6
