Humor is a powerful tool on social media, but brands often avoid it out of fear of backlash. However, new research from Haile College of Business professors Anh Dang, PhD and José Saavedra Torres, PhD shows that playful roasting—when done right—can lead to higher engagement and positive brand sentiment compared to traditional brand praise (toasting). In this post, we'll share highlights of their research and provide you with actionable insights you can use in your own business. 🔗Click to read more: https://lnkd.in/gbVQwQZg #NorseUP #NKUHaileCollege

NKU Haile College of Business reposted this
"I learned that it is not only what you know but who you know. Networking is so important because that person you spoke with can open other opportunities for you somewhere else. I also learned that internships are not just about finding what you love to do for the first time. It is a time to figure out what you do not want to do as well. Which brought a little more comfort for someone who is trying to find an internship." — Brianna Linkugel A huge thank you to Northern Kentucky University Alumni Claire Maschinot, Hailey DeWald, and Andrew Gazzaroli for sharing your invaluable internship experiences with my BUS 301 students! Your stories about how internships served as a springboard for your careers are incredibly inspiring and provide our students with a clearer vision of how to approach their own internship journeys. It’s alumni like you who truly shape the future of our community. Here are a few more student reflections that were inspired by your wisdom: 📌 The panel was able to give great insight into how internships can connect you to a future job. Connections that you make can help to give a great insight into industries, but it does not have to be an elaborate connection. Just something as simple as connecting on LinkedIn, which helped take the stress away from the idea of reaching out to people you don't know. Piper Sheriff 📌 I really appreciated their insights on the process of finding and applying for internships and how each opportunity contributed to landing their current full-time roles. Hearing their experiences reassured me that I’m on the right track and helped ease my concerns about falling behind. It was especially valuable to hear about the different internships they held before securing a permanent position, as it gave me a better understanding of the progression from internships to a full-time career. Their journey made me feel more confident in my own path and am motivated to continue seeking opportunities that will help me grow professionally. Allen Stevens 📌 Today I learned a lot about internships. I learned that networking and resume appearances can be crucial to obtaining an internship. I also learned about how it is okay to take internships that aren’t tailored towards your career. Doing this lets you try something new as well as gain experience in a different position. Logan Wilson 📌 Today, we talked about how to weigh your options when choosing the right internship or job. It’s important to find something that fits your goals, skills, and interests. I learned that you should take time to compare opportunities, think about what you want, and make sure you choose what works best for you. Matthew Duncan Your generosity in sharing your journey with current students has made a lasting impact. Alumni giving back to the NKU Haile College of Business is what truly sets us apart and helps our students thrive in their future careers. Thank you for your time, mentorship, and continued support! #Internships #NKUBUS301

We are proud of our alumni, that's no doubt. Hailey, Claire, and Andrew are doing amazing things at Procter & Gamble, The Coca-Cola Company, and Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati. We're grateful for them taking the time to meet with our current learners and help them make the most out of their education and careers. #NorseUp #NKUHaileCollege
I want to thank Claire Maschinot Hailey DeWald and Andrew Gazzaroli for speaking to my NKU Haile College of Business BUS 301 class. Their insights on internships helped me to view internships as exciting opportunities, rather than being anxious about them. One of the key takeaways I learned was that internships help you to gain the experience and skills for your future career, help with gaining connections, and to understand what you want for your future! I also took away as someone who is a dedicated worker and feel that I need to be good at something first try, internships are the time to make mistakes. The recruiters for internships know you are learning! Don't be afraid to make mistakes and speak up about them. It's apart of the process to get to where you want to be. #NKUBUS301

The next generation of business professionals is so incredibly inspiring! Thanks Northern Kentucky University and the Northern Kentucky University Haile College of Business for letting me share my story, and for sharing yours with me. My takeaways: 1) these students are bright, and will soon change the world and 2) I was told by a particularly amazing young person that I "slay." I can't wait to come back! On Saturday, I had the coolest experience of being the faculty coach of the game at the men’s NKU basketball game. I got to shoot around with the team pregame and then sit behind the coach for the game. Thanks to my student Sam Vinson who nominated me for this awesome experience. Thanks, Coach Horn, and Madison Garrott for providing a great experience and we came away with the win!! Bryan Allen Christina Roybal NKU Haile College of Business Northern Kentucky University
