Welcome to the fortieth edition of our newsletter, your essential resource as you navigate the rich landscape of nonprofit careers in finance, human resources, operations, and leadership. Nonprofit work presents unique challenges and unparalleled opportunities for deep engagement and substantial personal growth. This fortieth edition highlights Nonprofit Operations job postings that provide valuable insights that foster genuine engagement. This week, we are releasing the 30-day posting, which includes a two-year financial analysis, while the 60-day option adds a three-year analysis plus board and staff demographics. This transparency supports candidates in assessing alignment with the organization’s mission and values, attracting purpose-driven talent committed to equity, inclusion, and sustainability. Last week’s thirty-ninth edition highlighted that unlike annual reports, which provide a retrospective look at a nonprofit’s financial and demographic data, Nonprofit Operations offers nonprofits the chance to speak directly to prospective candidates about where they are now and where they are going. It allows organizations to share the stories behind their numbers—acknowledging the need for greater board diversity to reflect their communities or discussing the steps they take to build financial reserves after learning hard lessons during the pandemic. This platform encourages transparency, enabling nonprofits to outline their challenges and their strategies for improvement, attracting skilled candidates aligned with the organization’s mission and ready to contribute to its future growth in equity, inclusion, and financial sustainability. #NonprofitExcellence #CareerGrowth #ImpactfulWork https://lnkd.in/evbg-sGV

Job seekers are reporting “Ghost Jobs” as being one of the biggest frustrations in the current job market. Many feel as though they waste time filling out applications for positions that do not offer any sort of response, or worse yet, aren’t even hiring in the first place. While there may be a number of reasons companies do this, there is a wider adverse effect happening on job seeker motivation. Ghosting candidates can negatively impact a company's reputation, and can even dissuade candidates from applying to another role in the future. In decades past, it was common courtesy to send out short and polite rejection letters to candidates who did not make it to an interview round. While today this may be seen as unnecessary, a negligible amount of time and effort can go a long way in strengthening a company’s reputation. An applicant who gets a response may be more willing to consider applying to other openings in the future. Don’t miss out on this key employer branding opportunity! #EmployerBranding #Hiring #JobSearch

Even as we navigate this new crisis, we can’t forget that the last one is still with us. The COVID-19 pandemic may have officially ended, but many of our colleagues, friends, and loved ones are still grappling with its aftermath. Long COVID continues to affect individuals in our sector, impacting their ability to work, financial stability, and overall well-being. Some of us are supporting team members with chronic fatigue, brain fog, and other lingering symptoms, adjusting workloads and benefits to accommodate a reality that isn’t always visible. Just as we had to adapt our financial and HR strategies to meet the urgent needs of the moment, we are still adapting today—because crises don’t have clean endings. They ripple outward, forcing us to rethink what sustainability really means. This is a critical lesson for the justice crisis we now face. The dismantling of nonprofit funding structures, the erosion of rights, and the attacks on the very existence of our organizations are not temporary disruptions; they are part of a sustained effort to weaken our sector. The difference this time is that the government isn’t offering relief—it’s creating the conditions for collapse. However, as we navigated PPP loans and ERC complexities, we found ways to sustain our missions through advocacy, collaboration, and financial strategy. The nonprofit sector has always been about resilience, about doing what is necessary to protect our communities and push for a just society. And like COVID, this crisis will have long-term effects. The nonprofit sector is being reshaped, and the choices we make now—how we fundraise, structure benefits, and advocate for our work—will determine the landscape for years to come. We must accept that this long game requires endurance, strategy, and community. When COVID first hit, we thought we were sprinting toward a finish line, only to realize we were in a marathon. This time, we know better. We know we need each other and that even when the game's rules are changing against us, we have the power to shift the narrative. We got through the last crisis together. We will get through this one, too. Onward and upward! #NonprofitStory #NonprofitLeadership #EquityInHiring #HR #Finance #Operations #ExecutiveDirector #PersonalThrowback #NewThings #JusticePandemic https://lnkd.in/gv3TiV6V

If your nonprofit is hiring for remote roles, it may make sense to focus outreach and communication on remote-focused job boards. Some platforms like We Work Remotely, Remote.co, and FlexJobs are great ways of connecting with prospective hires looking exclusively for remote work. If your job offerings aren't reaching the right people, it's worth re-evaluating where your outreach efforts are directed. Many of these platforms have qualified users who aren't filtering remote positions on LinkedIn or Indeed because they are finding better opportunities on alternative sites. #EmployerBranding #Hiring #RemoteWork

While 93% of workers may be looking for other opportunities, 76% of workers believe that finding a job in 2025 may be difficult because of the economy. These statistics come from a recent Monster poll, a survey aimed at studying working conditions and the labor market. This growing desire to move up or transition to a new organization may stem from several key factors, including return-to-office mandates, better pay opportunities, and enhanced benefits packages. This observable trend may be a good thing for recruiters who are looking for the right time to attract new hires, seeing as opportunities are both in demand and perceivably more difficult to come by. #JobSearch #Hiring #Innovation

When you're applying for a job, your cover letter is your chance to leave a positive impression. The way you can do this is by highlighting how your skills and talents apply directly to the position you are applying for. A generic cover letter that you send out to multiple jobs won’t cut it anymore, as employers are looking for specificity and attention to detail when reading the cover letters of prospective hires. By highlighting your relevant experience in the context of the position you're applying to, you can tailor your cover letter to fit the position you're applying for. #NonprofitCommunications #HR #JobSearch #CoverLetterTips
