  • On wedneday the first week of COP16 we had our first side event. It was a great mixture of several kind of experts both from the world that fund biodiversity as well as youth that has done a lot of work to find funds for their biodiversity action. 💸🌱💸🌱💸🌱 First we presented through Nordic parlamentarian what the youth project has been working in the Nordics, then the Danish senior Youth Delegate had a presentation on the newly create Nordic Youth Pool of Climate and Biodiversity, and what it means to apply for it and the goal of making it easier for youth to finance their projects. Afterwords two different panel discussions where held in order to understand what kind of opportunity there is to finance youth initiatives in the Nordics and other parts of the world, as well as what have been success stories and what barriers there are for young fundraiser. 🌱💸🌱💸🌱💸🌱💸

  • Once again we have a side event at COP16! 🌱📚 The Rights of Nature movement advocates granting legal rights to non-human entities. This might take the form of giving Mother Earth constitutional rights such as in the Andean Mountains of Ecuador and Bolivia, or giving rivers and mountains rights in light of their cultural and spiritual importance for indigenous people, such as the Whanganui River of the Maori in New Zealand, Ganges in India or the Atrato river in Colombia. Join us for a panel disussion when this will be discussed for a Nordic context! The conversation will start on a physical note, exploring the questions: 🌳 Does Nature have inherent rights? 🪲 Why are Rights of Nature important? 🐢 Are Rights of Nature contributing to strengthening human rights, or work against it? We then move to the more practical side, discussing the questions: 📚 What are the juridistical challenges? Does rights imply obligations? ↔️ Where has Rights to Nature been implemented and what has been the outcomes? ✅️ What potential does Rights of Nature have, and how do you envision it to be a part of a global conservation strategy? 🌎🌍 What are the differences between Latin America and the Nordics? 🏔 What is the potential in the Nordics, and what specific non-human entities could be granted rights? See you there! 🌱✨️
