Big win for NC businesses! The North Carolina House has passed HB 48, a bill supported by NCACPA that provides a much-needed tax credit for employers' Unemployment Insurance (UI) tax payments. If your business paid taxable wages in Q4 2024, you may be eligible for a dollar-for-dollar credit on your UI tax payment due in April 2025. The impact? $100 million in tax relief while keeping the state's Unemployment Trust Fund strong. NCACPA is proud to advocate for policies that benefit our members, businesses, and communities. This pathway includes: ✔️ A bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting ✔️ Two years of relevant professional experience ✔️ Passage of the CPA Exam "NCACPA took early action to advocate for an additional pathway by listening to our members, recognizing the ongoing workforce challenges, and evaluating regional and national changes," said CEO Mark Soticheck, CPA, CGMA. "We appreciate that the AICPA and NASBA are now exploring this alternative as well, given the broad support it has received. Our commitment remains focused on proactively addressing member needs and ensuring a thriving profession in North Carolina." NCACPA will continue to champion this legislative effort, collaborate with the NC State Board of CPA Examiners and other key stakeholders, and keep members informed as developments unfold!
