As we wrap up #NationalApprenticeshipWeek2024, we’re honoring the incredible contributions of Veterans in Apprenticeship! At NCRWA, we are proud to support those who’ve served our country by helping them transition into rewarding water and wastewater industry careers. Today, we want to recognize two outstanding veterans in our program: Jonathan Randall and Nicholas Dillard-Tritt, both proud U.S. Army Veterans. Veterans like Jonathan and Nicholas are vital to the Registered Apprenticeship Program, and we are committed to providing opportunities that honor their service while equipping them with the tools for long-term success. #VeteransInApprenticeship #FederalApprenticeship #NAW2024 #ThankYouVeterans

Chase Mallow from National Rural Water Association (NRWA) is on the left behind the camera. Chase was gracious enough to spend this week in North Carolina filming a few of the systems that are still working to recover in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. It is a challenging, emotional story to tell. We appreciate Chase taking time to interview system staff, NCRWA employees, and folks in the community.

🔒💧 Cybersecurity Awareness for Water Utilities Did you know that water systems are increasingly targeted by cyber threats? Protecting critical infrastructure isn't just about clean water—it's about keeping communities safe! 🛡️ Here are a few tips to boost cybersecurity for your water utility: ✔️ Update Software: Keep all systems up-to-date to prevent vulnerabilities. ✔️ Train Your Team: Cybersecurity is a team effort—educate staff about phishing, strong passwords, and safe online habits. ✔️ Monitor Activity: Regularly check your network for suspicious activity or unauthorized access. ✔️ Back Up Data: Ensure data is backed up securely and test recovery plans regularly. A strong cybersecurity plan is essential for safeguarding public trust and ensuring reliable water services. #CybersecurityAwareness #WaterUtilitySafety #InfrastructureProtection #CyberSafeUtilities

54 Days since Helene hit western North Carolina I spent the last two days visiting systems with our Circuit Riders and Wastewater Specialist. I know how hard Rural Water staff works to provide high quality technical assistance to rural systems. I know they were on the scene to help as soon as roads opened up. I know they connected affected systems with critical resources to get water and wastewater services back as quickly as possible. I know they were there providing emotional support to people working in systems who have been up against impossible challenges. But when the people they’ve helped shake my hand and look me in the eye and say THANK YOU for all our staff does, the only response I have is, “it’s our privilege.” At North Carolina Rural Water Association it is an honor and privilege to do anything we can to support water and wastewater systems in North Carolina. #ruralwaterstrong
