Today, we celebrate Angila Munk for 35 years of exceptional service! Anglia Munk started her career at Norton Healthcare as a nursing student while working in the intensive care unit at Norton Audubon Hospital. She continued working in pediatrics until the unit was relocated downtown. Anglia chose to stay at Norton Audubon Hospital, moving into various roles, including the post-anesthesia care/preoperative unit and interventional radiology, where she helped develop policies. For the last eight years, she has been a nurse navigator at Norton Cancer Institute, and she loves the people she works with and the job she does. A world-renowned diabetes researcher has joined Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute, a part of Norton Healthcare and Norton Children's, with the goal of curing Type 1 diabetes. Dr. Bala joined Norton Healthcare in September and said he is excited to bring his research and team from Nationwide Children’s in Columbus, Ohio, to Louisville. Led by Dr. Bala, the Norton Islet Cell Research & Transplant Program, housed within Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute, will become a hub for diabetes research and islet cell transplants.

Elaine Royce began her nursing career in 1984, initially working on a medical floor before finding her passion in the newborn nursery. In 1997, Elaine transferred to Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital, where she has spent the last 27 years working in the mother/baby unit and the neonatal intensive care unit. Elaine’s dedication to caring for babies has been unwavering, and she continues to make a difference in the lives of families every day.
