  • Happy Holidays from Lumina Corps! During this season of gratitude and reflection, we are reflecting on one of Lumina’s core values: serving the big purpose.     Our clients are working to advance science and research and to improve the nation’s health. Our work with them helps to inspire learning and action and to bring about positive change in our world.  We are grateful to partner with them in these important efforts to serve this bigger purpose. And we are so grateful for our wonderful team who makes this work possible!     Many of us recently gathered for a holiday lunch at our office in Silver Spring, where the team had a chance to catch up with each other, enjoy holiday treats, and celebrate their 2024 accomplishments. We look forward to all that is to come in 2025.

  • Lumina’s own Ashley Amado and Michaela Mueller recently returned from Cape Town, South Africa, where Lumina hosted DAIDS Applied Research Training 2024 (DART 2024) for clinical researchers, sponsored by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Division of AIDS. The 3-day event took place between September 17 and 19th and involved over 100 clinical research investigators.     Using application-based learning, participants worked in small groups to review real-world scenarios designed to enhance ICH Good Clinical Practice compliance and quality. The event was designed to encourage critical thinking, problem solving, and relationship building among DAIDS clinical research sites. DART 2024 participants were equipped with instructor guides and tool kits to enable them to share what they had learned with colleagues at their clinical research sites across Africa.     Lumina is proud to support such important international work and would like to thank our clients, partners, and the participants for making this event a success.

Today, HHS OASH Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion launched its #FoodIsMedicine website—also called the Digital Toolkit—which provides resources and information to organizations interested in implementing or researching Food Is Medicine programs. Food Is Medicine encompasses a broad range of approaches that promote optimal health and healing and reduce disease burden by providing nutritious food—with human services, education, and policy change—through health care and community system collaborations.   Lumina Corps provided content strategy, design, and web development support to HHS for the Virtual Toolkit and created the Food Is Medicine brand. We are thrilled to see this important resource out in the world and are grateful to have worked with the dedicated team of public health and policy experts at HHS and collaborating organizations to bring the Toolkit from concept to creation. Congratulations, FIM Team!    Explore the Virtual Toolkit at Health.gov/FoodIsMedicine.
