This week was the KC Chamber’s 137th Annual Dinner.
It’s the fourth time I’ve art directed this event; each year, it feels like we level up. With over 1200 attendees, planning and executing this event is not for the faint of heart. It takes some spectacular people and teams to assemble this event; they all deserve their flowers (even though I might accidentally leave someone out at this moment).
First things first, I get to work with a small powerhouse of people led by our boss and reigning marketing and communications champion Melanie Mattes, the dynamic events duo of Laura Dryden and Danielle Bennett, Ari Bottorff on the website 1s and 2s, and Michelle Cronk, MA, APR painting pictures with words in all of our communications. Our intern Claire Olmsted showed why the future is bright with her amazing, adaptable talent when assisting with this event.
Our support outside of the Chamber is top-notch. HMXLive, a Unit of Harvest Productions Inc sets the stage with fabulous AV tech support. LimeLight Marketing LLC kicked off the event with a cooler-than-cool animated video, and Novella Brandhouse helped visualize a pathway for us to create the ‘We Believe In KC’ spirit. Lastly, the rest of my colleagues at the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce are the bee's knees. Day in and day out, they each do their part to ensure KC grows in the best ways possible, but the Annual Dinner is a moment when we all come together, do the work, and celebrate the greatness of this city. I have truly grown as a creative while working on these fantastic initiatives and programs.
Ultimately, the latest chapter in the Annual Dinner legacy was a success. The Lowes Hotel is a great place to have an event, with the Kauffman Center in the background. Bobby Witt Jr. is one of the coolest cats in blue. We recognized two pillars in KC with the Kansas Citan of the Year award. What a night to remember. Thanks to Kyle Rivas, we can!
