At Novonesis, we believe solutions rooted in biology are key to tackling the challenges our world faces.
Enzymes, functional proteins and microorganisms are our planet's tiniest, yet mightiest agents of change. When we leverage their power with science, we create biosolutions that transform the way we all produce, consume and live.
Today, we are 10,000 people worldwide whose expertise spans more than 30 different industries. All around the world our biosolutions already create value for thousands of customers and benefit the planet. Our solutions enable feeding and fueling the world more sustainably, from healthy and sustainable nutrition to biofuel. Biosolutions also reduce the use of fossil-based resources, chemicals, energy and water. And this is just the beginning. The potential is almost endless.
The time for biosolutions is now. And by working closely with our partners and customers, we will continue to challenge conventional thinking and transform business with biology. Together, we will create the change our world needs.
Let’s better our world with biology.
Recently, our colleagues in China officially moved into our new Novonesis office in Shanghai.
The new office has 1,500 square meters of space and has been designed as a workplace for all Novonesis employees in Shanghai.
This site includes our first and largest Customer Experience Center in the region, which covers most industries where our biosolutions contribute. The area is supported by multi-functional meeting and demonstration devices, allowing us to host events and tours for customers and business partners.
Our Regional President Lensey Chen invited our APAC leadership team to visit the new office and held a townhall and a celebration gathering with our colleagues.
We look forward to the next chapter of our Novonesis presence in China and showcase the power of biosolutions to more people in the region.

Novonesis Founders’ Flag unveiled in North America
Today, our colleagues in North America are enjoying the holidays with their families for Thanksgiving. Recently, they also came together to celebrate a milestone and mark the unveiling of a so-called Founders' Flag after a tour across our sites in the region.
The flag’s tour began shortly after our merger was finalized earlier this year: Kicking off in North Carolina, then hand-delivered by Regional President Tue Micheelsen to various sites in Wisconsin. The flag was later shipped back and forth across state and country lines to Indiana, Nebraska, Ontario, California and more.
In each location, our colleagues signed their names to a giant Novonesis flag. “The Founders’ Flag” was named after the notion that those signing it were the co-founders of Novonesis and the era of biosolutions.
"We’re all founders of the new era of biotechnology. We’re all founders of Novonesis North America, and that really is what the flag symbolizes. Thank you all for being a part of the journey," Regional President Tue Micheelsen said.
Now, The Founders’ Flag has reached its final tour stop and is proudly displayed at our site in Franklinton, North Carolina.

Showcasing our latest innovations and biosolutions at Food Ingredients Europe in Frankfurt, Germany
Last week, our colleagues in our Food & Beverage Biosolutions team attended the annual Food ingredients Europe conference, connecting with customers, industry experts and stakeholders and sharing samples of our many biosolutions in the food and beverage space.
As a highlight of this year's conference, we won the Innovation Award in the sensory award category where our Novamyl BestBite biosolution was recognized as the winner. This solution enables food producers to achieve baked goods with a great texture and a balanced bite, while also maintaining freshness for longer.
Thank you to all of our colleagues attending FIE and all the visitors we had a chance to speak to at the Novonesis booth.

Biosolutions can enable more sustainable fuel for transport
Today is World Sustainable Transport Day, and for this occasion we want to share our most recent biosolution, Eversa® Advance, improving efficiency and sustainability in biodiesel feedstock processing.
This biosolution was introduced recently in Brazil at ENOV2024, the largest annual event for oils and fats processors in the region, and at the EWABA General Assembly in Belgium. In recent years, biodiesel producers have increasingly adopted waste-based feedstocks to remain competitive and increase sustainability in a volatile market. However, due to the variable quality of the feedstocks, particularly with free fatty acid (FFA) content, they are faced with processing challenges that lead to operational bottlenecks.
The new biosolution tackles the challenges of processing feedstocks with up to 20% FFA. The product helps biodiesel producers improve operational efficiency, reduce total pre-treatment operating costs by up to 45%, and lower their environmental footprint.
"Biodiesel producers know that feedstock flexibility and sustainability has become a strategic imperative. The demand for renewable fuels, and thereby feedstocks, is increasing, while global policies promote the use of waste-based feedstocks. With Eversa® Advance, we help biodiesel producers increase their feedstock flexibility and unlock the full potential of their plants with little capital expenditure and low risk," says Hans Ole K., VP Marketing at Novonesis.
Olfar is one of the largest industrial biodiesel groups in Brazil, and they are the first to implement this technology, using the Eversa® Advance biosolution. Their plant is now operating successfully and producing biodiesel.
Marcelo Pauletti, Head of Biodiesel at Olfar, shared his thoughts:
"At Olfar, we’re committed to producing energy for the world in a reliable and sustainable manner. To us, Eversa® Advance is a pathway to diversifying our feedstocks and more efficient processing of waste-based feedstocks as well as smoother operations and lower costs. Novonesis contributed with world class technology and a team of experienced and dedicated professionals to our project. Their collaboration was key to Olfar’s successful implementation of Eversa® Advance."

As the climate discussions at COP29 Azerbaijan have concluded, our colleague EVP Morten Enggaard Rasmussen shares his perspective. In the video, he talks about the role of biosolutions as an important enabler of the path towards a more sustainable future:
"According to the UN, countries made no progress over the last year in reducing global emissions from the burning of fossil fuels. That's not viable. Biology holds some of the answers to the most pressing challenges we face. Biosolutions hold the key to reduce energy consumption and GHG emissions in many industries. Globally, biosolutions can reduce total emissions by 8%," he says.
At Novonesis, we are ready to contribute, doing our part to create the future we all want to see for the coming generations. We are here to better our world with biology.
