Following Donald Trump’s electoral win, the Buffett Institute convened six Northwestern University faculty experts to discuss the impacts of the new administration, focusing on topics ranging from international relations to immigration. The panel featured history professor Michael Allen, global health studies professor Sarah Rodriguez, Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law professor David Dana, and political science professors Karen Alter, Julie Lee Merseth and William Reno. "There’s going to be tremendous corruption that’s going to be less visible under the surface,” said Professor Alter. “Because tariff and economic security policies can be used to reward friends and punish people who are not.” Read more insights from the panel in The Daily Northwestern's recap: http://spr.ly/6041Qwa4S

Among the reparations that may be owed to victims and survivors of human rights violations are epistemic reparations—the opportunity for them to testify and document their own stories to a wider public. Professor Brent E. Huffman was inspired by the Northwestern Buffett Institute for Global Affairs' Epistemic Reparations Global Working Group to create the Documenting Carceral Injustice Program at the Northwestern University Medill School to help facilitate these opportunities for those incarcerated in nearby prisons. 🎬 Attend this quarter's culminating documentary screening this Monday, December 9 at 6:30 p.m. in Evanston at the McCormick Foundation Center Forum. 🎥 Learn more about the program, which is a part of the Northwestern Prison Education Program (NPEP) and Buffett's Epistemic Reparations Global Working Group: https://lnkd.in/dvw78K8j 🌎 Learn more about the Epistemic Reparations Global Working Group: https://lnkd.in/g6uhZ-xQ
