    Marketing + Sales are not your problem. Your problem is lack of clarity. Most people that come to us want a new logo because it will solve all of their problems. The reality is they need to cast vision, set tone, get clear and then make a visual identity that matches that vision. Or some think they need help with marketing but have no idea what they really sell and what problems they truly solve. Hard to genuinely spread the word about something that is vague. Vague branding = vague marketing, vague ads, vague PR, vague social. Clear branding sets the tone. So no its not marketings fault or sales fault that your business is stagnant its your lack of clarity, vision, and knowing what your brand truly is. So.. do you have a crystal clear brand?

    I moved to OKC 18 years ago. I had no intention of staying here long-term. My plan? Get my degree and figure out how to leave ASAP. Obviously the universe had other plans. Between meeting my husband the second day of college to starting a business — I now call myself an Okie by choice. Which may leave a lot of people baffled if they haven’t been here. But the reality is OKC is booming. The people are nice.. mostly. And the food is bomb. And my husband has now made me an avid Oklahoma City Thunder fan. ⚡️ So this is me. Planting roots. Wanting to be part of the cultural shift happening in our city and placing my small business, nuevo, at the heart of it.     Having a game plan + Having money = Freedom. Which was the whole concept behind the brand of Discover the Factor. Factor came to us with a name that was bordering on trademark infringement, a visual look that was meh — at best, no brand messaging, and a claim that they wanted to be bold. I was hesitant. I thought "Do they really want to be bold or are they more in love with the idea of being bold?" They proved me wrong. They wanted to be bold. And wanted to fiercely go after their ideal market — Creative Agencies. I mean they even went with our tagline "More Money, Less Problems" We got to have fun and imagine what a CPA firm should look and sound like. The answer: Not boring. Now they have a playbook strategy to entice their ideal market, key messaging to talk to them, and a visual identity that attracts them.     The most chaotic team photo that could come out. Yesterday, the nuevo team was reunited once more. Brenda Chavez Quintero is our fabulous designer and illustrator based in Merida, Mexico. We do zoom days, slack, and clickup to try to foster a connection with our company culture but these trips are what cement it for a bit longer. When the design conference, OFFF MX announced new dates we found it to be the perfect opportunity for us all to come together, work, and get inspired. Q4 tends to kick our butts into gear so taking a pause to reenergize and come together is crucial.     6 years ago Nuevo Studio was born out of the ashes of my first failed business… so here are 6 fails I’ve endured since starting. Failures: 1. Because I had a crappy contract I was on the phone with my attorney over my birthday weekend. A client was refusing to pay the last part of their invoice and I had already given files :( Lesson: Have a good contract. Get better at judging who is a good client. 2. Stick to my process. When I broke my process for a client, at their request, the project went sideways. 3. I was scared of feedback on my process and didn’t ask for any feedback for the first 3 years of my business. Lesson: I’m sure I could have nailed down my process a lot faster if I had been open to feedback. 4. Don’t overpromise clients things. I am a very optimistic person who also thrives with a lot of things to do. But my creativity is not always at peak performance. So when I’m not feeling it… it all comes crashing down. Lesson: I no longer give clients dates - Maria del Pilar Guarddon Pueyo, my right hand woman, does. Overpromising and under delivering is a quick way to lose credibility and make the whole process unenjoyable… especially for the client. 5. When I was starting out I wanted to be a bit different but NOT TOO much. Which led to our own identity crisis. Lesson: when I leaned into what we do, why we do it, and being ok with detracting clients I started to work with my favorite clients and favorite projects. 6. Toxicity breeds faster than positivity… especially in a small team. I was not taking care of my company culture and it turned ugly for a bit. Lesson: I prefer to work with cool people than killer portfolios. I can train skill but I can’t make an asshole stop being one. Bonus: trust your gut. Cheers to 6 years and many more. I’m incredibly grateful for our clients, my team, our cheerleaders.     As marketing experts we often suggest updating your brand to keep it current, but a brand refresh should be more than just updating colors or even a new logo. When it was time for Anglin to celebrate 25 years with a refreshed brand identity, we chose to collaborate with Nuevo Studio because we appreciate their bold and vibrant use of color, their optimistic approach, and their mindful process when it comes to design. This process can be intimidating - even for experts - but we couldn't be more thrilled about the results! Big shoutout to Impressions Printing for their excellent work installing our signage this week!

Its one of the easiest tools to reach for when you have questions during the growth stage of your business. But its not the easiest tool to create. You need an outsiders perspective to bring things to light and give you clarity around the problems you ACTUALLY solve for your client. Our client come to us for the clarity, the visual identity is the souvenir.
