  • Nurses-In-Charge Liberia Chapter has embarked on series of nationwide activities across Liberia’s 15 Counties. Nurses-In-Charge is a global, faith-based nonprofit organization operating in 19 countries globally. The initiative, which began on Monday, December 3 in Montserrado County, is initially focusing on dozens of nursing training institutions in nine counties across the country. Founded in 2022 by Dr. Nyempu Karmue-Hall, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Florida, USA, NIC is committed to empowering nursing professionals worldwide. The organisation is now registered in Liberia under the name Nurses In Charge Liberia and has established chapters in Bong and Nimba counties. Addressing reporters in Monrovia on Monday, Dr. Nyempu Hall, an American nurse practitioner and founder of Nurses In Charge Incorporated, expressed her excitement about launching the first phase of the NIC Tour in Liberia, where it all began. Dr. Hall explained that three years ago, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she recognised the need for stronger connections among nurses, emphasising the importance of networking and building a robust global professional community. Dr. Hall also pointed out that nurses are often undervalued despite their immense contributions to society. She emphasised that the true foundation of the nursing profession lies in education, noting that it is crucial to start with the instructors and educational institutions that shape the future of nursing. The NIC Boss explained that the team aims to gather additional knowledge during this tour to identify areas where they can make a more significant impact. She believes empowering nursing instructors and institutions will ultimately empower the next generation of nurses entering the profession. Dr. Hall reiterated that the global institution is committed to uncovering the hidden potential of nursing in Liberia and building a brighter future for the profession and one institution at a time. • NIC Tour Africa: Celebrating Nurses in Liberia Hello, Family! For those following this epic Nurses in Charge (NIC) tour through Liberia, things are progressing beautifully. The team has just completed visits to four counties and had the incredible honor of being welcomed and celebrated by the esteemed Board of Nursing Liberia. This journey is shining a light on the power and resilience of nurses. A highlight of the tour was documenting the story of a nurse entrepreneur who addressed access-to-care challenges by establishing her own clinic—an inspiring example of nursing leadership in action. Local colleges, universities, and nursing schools are showing their excitement and pride in this transformative project. Next week, Dr. Nyempu and the NIC Liberia team will host workshops focused on nurse empowerment, professional development, and seminars aimed at improving customer service standards in healthcare. As you can see in the photos below, the team has been featured extensively in local media, spreading the call for nurses across the country to unite. On December 27, nurses are invited to wear their white uniforms and join us in honoring the invaluable contributions of Liberia’s nurses to their communities. Please continue to follow us on social media and support this life-changing project.
