Now more than ever, teachers need connection. I started Nurture Our Nature Collective to be a platform for resource sharing, support and connection in an identify-affirming space. If you work to support teachers, please share our site. This community is growing and will offer respite from the stresses of working in educational spaces. Free memberships are available for anyone for whom cost is a barrier, or for those who are not sure if they want to commit. I have played with this idea in my mind for a long time and it has had many iterations. At first, I thought of starting an in-person group for teachers to gather and process and support. But, a core value I hold is inclusivity; and being limited to a small geographic area and requiring people to be there in real life felt restrictive. As I reflected on how we actually can use virtual platforms for real connection, I realized we would be more inclusive if we took advantage of tech. Folks who are caregivers in addition to being educators would be more likely to join if they didn’t have to go anywhere. People with a variety of disabilities have said that virtual spaces can be more accessible. So here we are, creating an inclusive virtual space. Today is the big day! Join us at Nurture Our Nature Collective! I created Nurture our Nature Collective out of my love for teachers and our work as educators. I have been in the world of education since my first job as a classroom assistant in a university-based early childhood center in 1996. Most of my career has been in early childhood, with a few layovers in the elementary and middle school years, as a teacher, consultant and coach. This space is committed to being inclusive and identity-affirming. You belong here. ❤️ https://lnkd.in/gzCHvFTc
