Get to know Jim Salas, a Line Troubleman at NV Energy ⚡️ As a line troubleman, I am the first on the scene with my single person bucket truck to inspect, assess, repair or call in a crew. I know how vital electricity is to our daily lives. My work often means putting holidays, personal plans, or even sleep on hold to respond to emergencies, but I couldn’t do it without my family’s support. They understand how important this work is, and I’m proud to play a small role in keeping our community powered and safe. Our teams are always on the look out to protect the system. Last week, our teams noticed loose plastic had wrapped itself around the primary and secondary bushings of a transformer in Reno. Crews were able to safely remove the plastic before it caused an outage or a spark. We’re reminding our customers to dispose of waste properly and help us avoid any disruptions to the system!

#NVEnergy’s Renewables team, along with employee veterans and other departments engaged in the annual Operation Warmheart Adopt-A-Family program. This year, employee volunteers made a visit to Nellis Air Force Base to personally deliver holiday gifts to military representatives. Spreading joy and cheer throughout the holiday season! #ThisIsWhatWeDo

The NV Energy Foundation contributed $250,000 to the Smartest Forest Fund—supporting ongoing efforts with the US Forest Service to create resiliency corridors around power lines in the Tahoe Basin. 🌲 These corridors, which include three zones of clearance extending up to 1,000 feet from power lines, not only prevent utility-caused ignitions but also act as crucial firebreaks to reduce the spread of wildfires, further supporting suppression efforts and contributing to a healthier forest. Preparations are underway for Chet Buchanan's temporary 'home' as part of the 26th Annual 98.5 KLUC Chet Buchanan Show Toy Drive! 🎁 The 20-foot scaffold at our 6226 W.
