  • 🌍 International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024 This year, we proudly celebrate the leadership and contributions of persons with disabilities under the theme: "Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future." The global disability rights movement has long championed the principle of “Nothing About Us Without Us,” calling for full participation, representation, and inclusion in shaping a future that works for everyone. We have been at the forefront of driving inclusive change—ensuring access to basic services, advocating for rights, and fostering community-led initiatives benefiting all. 🎥 Watch and be inspired: Discover the power of inclusion and leadership in this moving video: https://lnkd.in/eSMrMahW Let’s come together to celebrate the progress made and the path ahead! #InclusionMatters #LeadershipForAll #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs Alt video image : Image of Nyle Di Marco standing in front of a banner with text that reads, We the Peoples while speaking into a mic at a podium at the UN.

  • 📸 Teamwork in Action! Here’s a snapshot of a majority of the incredible team behind our mission to support the independent living movement. Over the years, we’ve grown exponentially, and this photo is a powerful reminder of the passion, resilience, and diversity that fuels our work every day. We recently came together for a staff meeting and training with MHANYS, focusing on self-care—a critical part of staying energized and effective in what we do. As a team that includes individuals with diverse abilities and perspectives, we know that taking care of ourselves is just as important as the work we do to create a world where everyone can thrive independently. Together, we’re breaking barriers, fostering inclusion, and empowering communities across New York State. 💪✨ #TeamWork #IndependentLiving #InclusionMatters #SelfCareForAll

  • 🌈 Honoring Trans Lives on Transgender Day of Remembrance Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR), we join communities worldwide in mourning the loss of trans and gender-diverse individuals whose lives have been cut short due to violence and systemic discrimination. This day is a solemn reminder of the urgent need to protect and uplift trans lives, especially as we face alarming statistics: 🔹 Over 350 reported murders globally this year alone, marking one of the highest recorded totals. 🔹 93% of victims were Black or Brown trans individuals, highlighting the intersection of race and transphobia. 🔹 Trans people with disabilities experience heightened vulnerability to violence and discrimination, as systemic ableism intersects with transphobia. We believe in a world where every individual, regardless of gender identity, can live free from violence, fear, and oppression. We honor the lives lost and reaffirm our commitment to advocating for policies and systems that protect, empower, and celebrate trans people in all their diversity. Let’s take action together: 💜 Support trans-led organizations and initiatives. 💜 Advocate for laws that protect trans rights and safety. 💜 Speak out against hate speech and discrimination in all its forms. We remember. We mourn. We continue the fight for justice.
