We are proud to officially announce the dedication of the Raina Family Team Station on the 12th floor of Oishei Children’s Hospital! We were overjoyed to welcome the Raina family as we honored their family’s extremely generous $250,000 donation during the 2023 Festival of Trees to benefit the hematology/oncology program at Oishei Children’s Hospital. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the family’s generosity and continued advocacy towards the hospital and its patients. Thank you, Raina Family!

Just a few months ago, volunteers took to Tops Markets stores across Western New York to continue the years-long tradition of The Buffalo News Kids Day! Not only did they distribute papers to raise money FOR the moms, kids and babies at Oishei Children's Hospital, they also spread stories of strength and resilience happening right here in our community as we get even more kids back to being kids. Thank you to the Buffalo News and Tops for your continued collaboration on this fun and impactful day!

We are thrilled to announce the official opening of the twelfth-floor teen lounge! This space is designed for our teen cancer and blood disorder patients, who face unique challenges during treatment and recovery. It represents a collaboration between numerous individuals and organizations, with input from our patients, to create a space that offers comfort, entertainment and a break from the medical environment. We want to extend our gratitude to all the collaborators who helped make this vision a reality. Congratulations to Jennifer L. Hand, MD, FAAD, FACMG, medical director of pediatric dermatology at Oishei Children's Hospital, for her joint publication, Spitz's Genodermatoses: A Full Color Clinical Guide to Genetic Skin Disorders (Third Edition)! User-friendly and highly visual, the publication is ideal for dermatologists, pediatricians and family physicians alike. Dr. Hand is proud to have been part of such a comprehensive update with Drs. Joel L. Spitz and Jackson Glenn Turbeville. She owes much of her passion in the field to her mentor, Dr. Ilene Rothman and continues to thank her for her role in developing her career. Congratulations, Dr. Hand!

Today, we were proud to welcome Christopher Koch, CEO of New Era Cap and leaders from the New Era Cap Foundation for a special unveiling of The New Era Cap Foundation Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Wing! It was an unforgettable moment last year when Chris raised his paddle to pledge $500,000 through the New Era Cap Foundation FOR pediatric cancer and blood disorder patients receiving care at Oishei Children’s Hospital. And we're ecstatic to be recognizing their overwhelming generosity with the naming of this essential wing in the hospital that sees so many patients and families in our community. Thank you to Chris and the entire New Era Cap Foundation team!

With the support of a phenomenal team led by Director and Clinical Associate Professor Danielle Goetz, MD, our Cystic Fibrosis (CF) department continues to make significant strides in CF care and research. We're proud to highlight Dr. Goetz and her recent authoring of key position papers in the Journal of Cystic Fibrosis! In the papers, she advocates for the use of interdisciplinary teams to improve health outcomes and the integral role that patients and families play in a comprehensive, collaborative care team. Congratulations to Dr. Goetz for this honor - her and the entire CF team continue to be an amazing asset to the program and OCH as we lead the way in CF care and research!
