In a world post-9/11, United States policymakers answered the call for major intelligence reform. Signed into law on December 17, 2004, the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act (IRTPA) authorized the creation of a Director of National Intelligence. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence launched operations on April 22, 2005, and our agency leads and integrates the Intelligence Community toward a stronger and safer nation. Join us from now until our 20th anniversary in April as we tell the story of our unified mission. #ODNI20

Office of the Director of National Intelligence reposted this
Laura Galante, who runs the US Intelligence Community’s Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center, CTIIC, noted that 2024 saw a major uptick in cyber operations against US critical infrastructure for disruptive purposes. 🛡️ To tackle this her organisation devised a series of industry Analytic Partnerships where they brought together the intelligence community’s best analysts, commercial cybersecurity teams, industry trade groups, and critical infrastructure owners who are grappling with these attacks on their systems. These partnerships helped us refine our intelligence products for key operational audiences, she says and adds that they also help the private sector stakeholders consider their role in national security. Laura’s story is one of many inspiring ones featured in our Women in GovTech 2024 special report. Find out more about her journey here!

On December 17, 2004, President George W. Bush signed the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act (IRTPA). This sweeping legislation, catalyzed by the 9/11 terrorist attacks, aimed to completely transform America's national security enterprise. Though the idea of establishing an overarching intelligence agency dated back to at least the 1950s, the IRTPA formally created the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to strengthen, integrate, and lead America's intelligence community. We officially began operations on April 22, 2005. Over the coming months, join us as we share the stories of this unified mission that helps keep the nation and our allies safe. #ODNI20

ODNI is releasing new guidance to further standardize the open-source intelligence (OSINT) discipline and foster partnerships between the Intelligence Community and the private sector. The updated Intelligence Community Standard (ICS) championed by ODNI’s OSINT Executive will help policymakers, warfighters, and other IC customers better understand the type, quality, and use of publicly available information (PAI), commercially available information (CAI), and OSINT sources. Additional highlights include: ➡️ An updated list of terms relevant to OSINT activities ➡️ Created a citation mechanism to keep OSINT "at origin" — allowing products to remain at the lowest classification possible ➡️ Developed new conventions to cite when Artificial Intelligence is used to inform analysis Read the new policy here: https://lnkd.in/eW_D_Xaf
