-Words by Pradip Rodan https://lnkd.in/gENVUvnj

-Subin Bhattarai Read More From Subin Bhattarai: https://lnkd.in/gtbQuWYN

The Trap of Negative Labeling Negative labels often arise from past mistakes, external criticism, or self-doubt. Words like “lazy,” “irresponsible,” or “failure” can seep into our identity, affecting how we view ourselves and limiting our potential. When you repeatedly tell yourself, “I’m not good at this,” it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Your actions align with the negative label, reinforcing the very behaviour you wish to change. For instance, consider someone labeled as “shy.” This label might discourage them from socializing, making it harder to overcome their introversion. Similarly, a person deemed “disorganized” might internalize this label, neglecting efforts to improve their planning skills. Consider the case of someone transitioning from “I’m terrible at public speaking” to “I’m improving my communication skills.” This subtle shift in labeling not only boosts confidence but also fosters a mindset geared toward growth and effort.
