In 1997, Jerald L. Tillman, LUTCF recognized the need for greater representation of Black professionals in the insurance industry—especially in leadership roles. Rather than waiting for change, he created it. He founded NAAIA - National African American Insurance Association as a platform for Black insurance professionals to connect, grow, and thrive. Today, with over 2,500 members nationwide, NAAIA continues to uphold Tillman’s vision. His impact, deeply rooted in Ohio, has shaped generations of Black insurance professionals, empowering them to break barriers and redefine leadership in our industry. As we celebrate Black History Month, we honor trailblazers like Jerald L.
