Ohmite is pleased to announce that our LBF series of braking load banks have recently received UL registered component status in both the US and Canada! The LBF series is a braking assembly designed to increase the braking torque capability of a variable frequency drive. The LBF is assembled using heavy gauge galvanized steel with a wired terminal block and provisions for an optional thermostat and are constructed to withstand harsh environmental conditions. UL recognition confirms this part series fulfills the guidelines set out by UL. Ohmite has manufactured braking assemblies for many years, and the recognition for the LBF series reflects our dedication to providing solutions for these applications. The LBF series is now listed on UL Product IQ. If you’re working on a braking application and are wondering if the LBF series is the solution for you, reach out to Ohmite today!

Ohmite is pleased to announce that our IS series resistors have recently received UL registered component status in both the US and Canada. The IS series is a low profile, thick film resistor capable of handling high power applications with very low inductance. The rugged construction allows for uses at power ratings of 175 to 270 watts With appropriate cooling plate heat sinking. UL recognition confirms this part series fulfills the guidelines set out by UL. Customers using the IS series will allow them to more quickly and easily achieve UL qualification on their assemblies. For 100 years, Ohmite has been dedicated to manufacturing high quality resistors for high power applications, and the recognition for the IS series is a demonstration of this fact. The IS series is now listed on UL Product IQ. If you’re interested in whether this series is the right solution for your application, reach out to Ohmite today!

Every year, Specialists at our corporate headquarters participate in CANStruction, a partnership with Tarrant Area Food Bank to create unique, one-of-a-kind structures made out of boxed and canned food. This year, we had 3 standout structures that raised close to 3,000 boxes and cans of food for donation. We’re thankful for the selflessness each of our Specialists portray and their commitment to giving back to the community. #TTIinc

From Lugs and Rheostats to the Latest Resistor Technology When Ohmite opened shop in 1925, our first products were supplied to the radio industry, such resistors and rheostats. With the technology at the time, resistive products were less precise and bulkier. Power ratings were also lower than now, and resistors had a higher risk of overheating depending on the load size. Ohmite's “Little Devil” resistors were molded composition resistors in ½, 1, and 2-watt sizes. The “Brown Devil” resistors were wire-wound, vitreous-enameled resistors for voltage dropping, bias units, and bleeders in 5, 10, and 20-watt sizes. The Dummy Antennas were also vitreous-enameled in 100 and 250-watt sizes. Ohmite’s resistors in the 1930s had power ratings up to 250 watts. We’ve made some big leaps in all our products, such as the TAP series, which has power ratings of up to 1,000 or 2,000 watts. Likewise, the range of ohms in the 1930s went up to 2,000,000 ohms with our precision resistors. Now, we offer ranges up to 10,000 megohms, as in our HSX hermetically sealed resistor series. Thanks for being a part of our history. Let’s continue to innovate and push the boundaries of what is possible. 🚀
