The CEO: "Wow, another demo request - looks like the marketing is working." Me: Hey it takes a team. Design and web are killing it. Our product manager is top notch. The devs are cranking out updates people actually want. Nothing happens in a vacuum. My internal monologue:

  • I haven't posted in awhile. See what had happened is...I decided to do the consulting thing, but nobody told me that people would still try to hire me full time. Who knew? Not I. Suffice it to say I've had my head down for the last four months optimizing hubspot, refining positioning and messaging, building upon the existing GTM strategy, understanding the competitive landscape, and presumably other resumé sounding things that begin with a gerund because that's the law. Quite proud of what we've done at Assette in a short amount of time. Check it out, if you're so inclined. In the interest of building in public, that's where I'm at. I'm quite literally figuring this out as I go. Just wanted to say thanks for the ongoing support - from friends and former colleagues but also the freelance community. You're all wonderful. Please accept this photo of the internet famous hippo as an apology. Your pal, Pete

Really pleased with the progress we've made at Assette in the last three months. 💬 Dialed in on messaging, value prop, client feedback, and differentiation. 💻 Didn't flip the website, as much as expanded on and refined what was already there. 🗺 Defined personas and cleaned up the CRM. Mapped out how the next few promotion sprints should go based on that data. Built out creative to support those sprints. Defined budgets and performance forecasts. 💵 Learned a hell of a lot about the investment and asset management world. IBOR, ABOR, asset classes, AUM, disclosure compliance. Very appreciative of Samuel, Olsen, and Thusith for bringing me up to speed and being tireless resources, and of Karen at goodgood for helping me translate all of this into a compelling visual language I'm confident our prospects and clients will love. This is my second time being a "solo marketer" or a department of one. I've got lots to learn, as always, but I'm confident I've improved at accelerating - focusing on high impact deliverables and prioritizing demand and pipeline generations. Excited to see where the next three months take us.

Part of why I wanted to start OlympIQ is because my position was eliminated earlier this year. Rather than just firing off resumes, I figured I'd set up a little consulting business with my newfound downtime. It wouldn't cost too much if nothing came of it, so what the heck? About 50k jobs - just at US-based tech companies - have been lost in the first six months of 2024. My thought was pretty simple - I'm probably not the only person thinking about starting up my own thing. I set up a little survey to see if I was right - would you consider filling it out for me? It's completely anonymous. Not some cheap lead-gen play. I'll share the results if I get 100 responses. Link right in the post because (obviously) I'm both stunning and brave: https://lnkd.in/eD8-cV3K
