OU Health surgeons are the first in Oklahoma to use our intraoperative molecular imaging agent during lung cancer surgery, helping them to #SeeCancerInRealTime.    “For lung cancer patients, it means we can perform less invasive surgeries with more precision, potentially leading to faster recoveries and better outcomes,” said Dr. J. When Heidi Onda was diagnosed with #LungCancer, she quickly realized the misconceptions surrounding the disease. Like many diagnosed with lung cancer, Heidi had no known risk factors, yet she still faced the stigma often associated with the disease. Alongside her husband, Heidi launched The White Ribbon Project — a grassroots movement that aims to spread awareness and challenge public perception of lung cancer. Through her work, Heidi has empowered countless patients, caregivers, and advocates. The hand-crafted white ribbons have become a powerful tool in dispelling myths and encouraging conversation around early detection, treatment options, and the need for greater lung cancer research. #LCAM #LungCancerAwarenessMonth #PatientStories

#LungCancer screening is crucial. It can detect cancer at an early stage when treatment is more effective. However, only 27.4% of cases are diagnosed early, when the five-year survival rate is much higher.    🫁 The American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative’s mission is to promote lung cancer screening for people who are at high risk of developing lung cancer.
