Open Buffalo is proud to co-sponsor this year's Buffalo Kwanzaa celebration! It was a true honor to help raise the RBG flag in Niagara Square and to take the stage at opening night to recognize the hard work and accomplishments of our incredible, multigenerational Emerging Leaders family.

    Executive Director at Open Buffalo

I wanted to make sure you all were aware of an opportunity to support Muhammad Zaman, a great man, a loving father, a visionary artist, a former Open Buffalo Board Member, and a former Open Buffalo Emerging Artist. See below. Let me know if you have any questions. A Benefit for Muhammad Z. Zaman 📅 Saturday, October 5, 2024 ⏰ 6:00-9:00 pm 📍 Hunt Gallery and Beebe's, 403 Main Street, Suite 105, Buffalo, 14203 Muhammad Zaman is a cherished member of the Western New York creative community and a valued friend of Arts Services Inc. Over the years, we have had the privilege of collaborating with @zaman_art in various capacities. His outstanding reputation as a supporter of the arts and his expressive and impactful work has touched countless lives, including ours. In the Spring of 2023, Muhammad was diagnosed with an especially aggressive form of signet ring cell carcinoma. After multiple surgeries and many months of chemotherapy, the cancer has refused to move into remission. As Muhammad undergoes palliative chemotherapy, now is the time for his community to come together to support him and his family. Our goal is to raise funds primarily to support a trust established to benefit Muhammad’s two young children, as well as to support immediate medical expenses. We invite you to join us in celebrating Muhammad’s artistry and supporting his family during a challenging time. Friends of Muhammad Z. Zaman and members of the wider Buffalo art community are coming together to host a special art sale and benefit at Hunt Gallery/Beebe's at the Gallery. This sale will include approximately 100 original artworks by Muhammad as well as an additional 30 works donated by WNY artists. 100% of all funds generated through event tickets sales, cash bar, art sales, and donations will go to Muhammad and his children. You can also support Muhammad and his family these ways: Purchase $20 Eventbrite tickets for the event Donate directly to the GoFundMe >>> https://gofund.me/96430805 Sharing this event across your networks Volunteer for the event Find details about the event here. >>> https://lnkd.in/ei-4vFK5 https://lnkd.in/ek9nrQ4R

Hey LinkedIn fam.! 👋🏼 I had a great time with friends and community peers this morning as we celebrated the positive impact that Open Buffalo has had in our community. 👏🏼 Special thanks to Stephanie Peete for always thinking of me in light and love, so grateful for you! 💓 It was so good to celebrate the amazing talent that Buffalo offers and to hear about all the good things that are happening with the support of the community. 🙌🏼 I had the pleasure of running into my You Can't Fail Inc. Sister, the one and only Leah Angel Daniel Ed.D and my Buffalo State University brother Jerrell Mason. 💪🏼 All in all, it was a beautiful start to my busy day! Check out the Open Buffalo page for more information on all of their initiatives. #breakfastofchampions #breakfastwithfriends #fundraiser #communityevent #buffalo #buffaloevents

Disrupting inequity through books, antiracism, and workforce development.

Yesterday I kicked off the morning by attending Open Buffalo’s Movement Morning annual fundraising breakfast — starting my day off with that much power in one room was a blessing. Thank you to my friends and colleagues who joined me as a table captain either in person or spirit — Sam Vaughn Brittani McKay, M.S. Dora Jones, MPA and Karen King. As Franchelle said yesterday, if you’re paying attention to what’s happening in our community, we’re not going deep enough into the work. Open Buffalo’s mission is to advance racial, economic, and ecological justice. They do so through skill building, network connecting, and activating leadership opportunities. Their goal is for all communities in Western New York to thrive free from discrimination and poverty. There’s much to be done. If you would like to support the vital work they’re doing in the community, the link is in the comments. #Buffalo #WNY #RacialJustice #SocialJustice #EnvironmentalJustice #EconomicJustice
