Happy 2025! 🎆 I'm finding not many have resolutions set for this year. If you need some motivation why not use the #GRC framework in your personal life to help guide you? Governance, #Risk, and Compliance isn’t just for businesses striving for Principled Performance. 🌟 According to OCEG, GRC is the integrated capabilities that enable you to "reliably achieve objectives, address uncertainty, and act with integrity." Here’s how you could apply it: 1. Governance: What are your personal goals and values? Define them clearly and share them with friends or family to keep yourself focused. 🙏 2. Risk: What uncertainties could throw you off course? Identify challenges—like temptations during Dry Jan or losing momentum—and plan controls to mitigate them. 💪 3. #Compliance: How will you hold yourself accountable? Find helpful habits or routines to comply with to give your goals structure and consistency. 🎯 To keep myself accountable, I’ll share my goals to improving my cooking skills and deepening my knowledge of GRC (see what I did there)! 😉 Let’s make 2025 a year of Principled Performance—both personally and professionally. What’s your GRC-inspired goal this year? 🚀 #PersonalGrowth #PrincipledPerformance

Didn't nail it the first time? No worries! Success takes practice - that's why you get 5 FREE retakes with your membership! 💪

I failed my Integrated Data Privacy course after months of prep struggle. As part of my self-development plan for the year, I registered for the Integrated Data Privacy course with OCEG. I already had a good knowledge of the subject but wanted to get certified. The plan was to prepare and sit for the exam in Q1 2024. However, this didn't happen until Q4 2024 due to time and schedule constraints that most of us have to daily contend with. So, in November, I dedicated two weekend to study the course materials and thereafter took the exam confidently. That confidence was embarrassingly deflated as I failed to score the minimum pass mark. Thankfully, I could retake the exam with more attempts. With some reflection, I identified the learning gaps and over the next few days had to unlearn preconceived concepts and relearn the principles, framework and designs of Privacy. I passed the exam at the second attempt. Key takeaways for me are as follows - 1. Be intentional and deliberate with your personal learning. 2. Be open-minded and less presumptuous. 3. Time will never wait for you. You must make out time for learning and growth. 4. You have planned to fail if you fail to plan. 5. Failing is part of life. It only makes you better. 6. You won't always get it right but you must learn from the process. For those that have achieved their learning objective for the year, well done and congratulations. For those that have not, 2025 is another year of learning. Go for it! #MerryChristmas! #LearningandGrowth, Scott Mitchell, #GRCP, #IDPP
