Last month, Covenant House Georgia hosted their annual Sleep Out event, a powerful initiative to raise awareness and support for young people experiencing homelessness. Participants give up their beds and sleep outside for one night to raise funds for vital services that support young people experiencing homelessness. We applaud all those who participated! Together, we can work toward a future where youth homelessness is rare, brief, and nonrecurring. 🙌 Watch the full story: https://lnkd.in/ei_DMAEj #SleepOut #EndYouthHomelessness #CovenantHouseGeorgia #MakeADifference #CommunityImpact #OpenDoors

We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to three of our founding board members, to whom we are wishing farewell as they complete their final term with us! Dave Loeffel, Marc Lefar, and Sara Haas have all served on the Open Doors board for 6 years and were a part of the founding committee before we officially became a nonprofit organization. Their leadership has had a lasting impact on our work and the people we serve. #ThankYou #OpenDoors #Leadership #Community #Gratitude #EndHomelessness

The Policing Alternatives and Diversion (PAD) Initiative in Atlanta, is helping individuals like Lilly Gaskin connect to services and housing instead of facing criminalization for homelessness. Since its launch in 2021, PAD has helped over 2,000 people find stable housing, proving that this diversion approach is cost-effective and offers a sustainable path out of homelessness. Did you know that what we typically perceive homelessness to be is only 15% of what homelessness really is? The remaining 75% is considered working poor. Working poor individuals are those who work or look for work for at least 27 weeks in a year but still have incomes below the poverty line. Some working poor people are unable to afford rent and end up homeless, sleeping in their vehicles. It’s important to understand the realities of what homelessness can look like, in order to best serve communities in need. #OpenDoors #WorkingPoor #Homelessness #Atlanta
