Some great advice from McKinsey & Company about implementing Generative AI from a safety and efficiency perspective. SPOILER ALERT: It looks a lot like the best practices many of us have been observing for a long time in implementing new technology in a systematic, intelligent, end-user focused manner. #10 Ethical AI Deployment is critical new area that deserves extra attention in my opinion as the scope is very different than what we have worked with in the past. 1. Prioritize Hyperattentive Observability 2. Emphasize End-to-End Automation 3. Manage Costs Proactively 4. Tame Tool and Infrastructure Proliferation 5. Involve End Users Early and Often 6. Develop a Comprehensive Governance Framework 7. Enhance Data Management Practices 8. Foster a Culture of Continuous Learning and Adaptation 9. Implement Rigorous Testing and Validation 10. Prioritize Ethical AI Deployment Read the full blog post: bit.ly/3SxRTvI

Generic AI Models give you Generic Results. There, I said it. Generic LLMs are a critical part of the overall AI strategy for any solution, but they will not provide the intelligence and insights specific to an industry or company. Four areas where Industry-AI deliver. 1. Data Integration: understand your data model and organization 2. Relevancy: takes your business nuances into account 3. User Adoption: adds specific value, not noise 4. Infrastructure: confident in security and data visibility Read about it in our Blog: bit.ly/4d3MmVR

It's been a journey for those of us who remember Clippy. Today's Generative AI unlocks a new assistant, AI Sherpa, that is industry-specific, proactive, and user profile aware. The Co-pilot: Assist with specific tasks or applications, offering reactive support like help writing emails, creating presentations, and analyzing data. All within the confines an application. The AI-Sherpa: An industry-specific, proactive assistant tailored to the unique needs of different user profiles. It goes beyond performing specific tasks within an application by offering end-to-end support across various applications and systems. The Sherpa was conceived by Ram Reddy as he considered how the power of an Industry Data Lake and Industry AI Models can be put in the hands of users with a variety of responsibilities, skills, and experience. Read more in our latest blog. bit.ly/3Y6OTKc about how we are bringing AI Sherpa to life with the help of Montu Mavi and Cyril Treacy and Anusha Gangapuram and Jeff Lumsden at OpenEnterprise.AI

We have had hundreds of conversations with Enterprise-size companies since the beginning of 2024. What we learned can be organized into four categories: Data, Relevance, User Adoption, and Infrastructure. Data: Unstructured data is center stage in most initiatives. There is also lots of attention on accessing the data from different sources and how to normalize this data which is in many different formats. CHALLENGE: Maintain the proper security and visibility rules when using data in AI apps. Relevance: Most are starting with general use cases, some with highly specialized processes. All are looking for a way to balance the two on a journey to AI that is valuable for a specific profile and process. CHALLENGE: Generic LLMs provide generic answers and are likely to deliver hallucinations when it comes to industry-specific use cases. User Adoption: Delivering more applications is being met with resistance from users who are already overwhelmed. Companies are looking to infuse AI into the existing processes and UI experiences. CHALLENGE: It's easier to just add another UI element or Co-pilot. Incorporating the AI insights into the process requires a deeper dive. Infrastructure: Companies are finding this to be a big gap as the landscape and use cases are changing so quickly. They are being cautious to ensure security of data, avoid open source pitfalls, and maintain governance. CHALLENGE: Incorporating generative AI into a sophisticated enterprise infrastructure requires new knowledge and skills. We hope these are helpful to you on your journey.
