We’re proud to be partnered with Bark Technologies Bark and the important work they do to keep kids safer online. Their products are a trusted solution for parents, offering a safe option for managing cell phone use. Last year’s stats were released — Bark processed 5.6 billion activities across texts, emails, YouTube, and 30+ social media platforms, sending alerts when concerning behavior was detected. These statistics remind us how critical it is for parents to stay proactive by delaying device access, choosing safer technology, setting parental controls, and keeping schools phone-free. Together, we’re taking a stand against human trafficking in Maryland! In partnership with our Maryland INTERCEPT Task Force and Safe House Project, Frederick County has launched the Enhanced Collaborative Model (ECM) Task Force—a groundbreaking effort to combat trafficking through prevention, survivor care, and accountability. With support from a $1.06M grant from the DOJ, this initiative unites federal, state, and local partners to protect victims and dismantle trafficking networks. At the launch event, Operation Light Shine’s COO, Bryan Weight said it best: “The strength of this task force lies in its partnerships. Together, we’re building a blueprint for lasting change.” Together, we’re making a difference!

Sextortion is a growing issue, with 1 in 17 minors reporting personal experiences. Many stay silent out of fear, shame, or confusion—but we must remind them: It is NEVER their fault. Kids need to know they can trust us—parents, teachers, and caregivers—to be their allies. By fostering open, judgment-free discussions about online risks and relationships, we can empower them to recognize warning signs and speak up when something feels wrong. Here’s how we can make a difference: ✔️ Educate them about the dangers of online predators and manipulative behavior. ✔️ Reassure them they will never be blamed or judged for coming forward. ✔️ Be their safe space—a trusted adult they can turn to without fear. Together, we can help protect kids from harm and give them the confidence to navigate the digital world safely.

Big News! 🎉 We received a generous $30,000 grant from the @colliercffl to support our Southwest Florida INTERCEPT Task Force! This funding will be used to acquire cutting-edge technology that enhances investigations and supports law enforcement in combating human trafficking and exploitation. We're proud to match this grant to further strengthen our mission of making communities across Southwest Florida safer. Victims may feel trapped by fear or lack of options, even if they’re not physically restrained. 🔹 MYTH: Trafficking is only a problem in other countries. 💡 TRUTH: It’s happening here in the United States—in cities, suburbs, and rural areas. Traffickers exploit people in plain sight, often online or in workplaces. At Operation Light Shine, we refuse to let these crimes continue unchecked. Through our INTERCEPT Task Forces, we’re on the front lines: ✔️ Uniting agencies to dismantle trafficking networks. ✔️ Equipping law enforcement with cutting-edge tools to identify and rescue victims. ✔️ Supporting survivors to help them reclaim their freedom and dignity.
