We were thrilled to have met Christina Stroback, Executive Director of SoldierStrong, and her team. The nonprofit organization has been making a remarkable difference in the lives of injured and paralyzed veterans since 2013. Their mission is to donate revolutionary medical technology to Veterans Affairs medical facilities, including the Dallas VA, and individual veterans across the country. Last night, Sheliah Tucker, a board member of Operation Tiny House, and I had the incredible honor of witnessing "Johnny," a paralyzed Army veteran, walk across the floor with the assistance of this life-changing medical technology. It was a truly inspiring moment that reminded us of the power of innovation and compassion. Join us in celebrating Soldier Strong and their incredible achievements! Our hearts are heavy once again as we bid farewell to a cherished team member. It is with a broken heart that I inform the veteran community of the passing of Philip Robertson, a beloved veteran and a valued member of our organization. Phil served in the United States #AirForce, and on the development team for the University Hills Veterans Housing Initiative. His dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to our cause were truly remarkable. Phil's contributions to the project were invaluable, and his presence will be deeply missed. During his time with us, Phil played an integral role in the success of Operation Tiny House Tiny House, his passion for supporting veterans and creating sustainable housing solutions for them was evident in everything he did. As we mourn the loss of our dear friend, soldier and colleague, we also celebrate the impact he had on our organization and the lives he touched. Just before bedtime, we learned that the 2024 Bond recommendations for housing have changed to 61 million and 8.5 million allocated for homeless services. It is disappointing to know that our City leaders seem to prioritize parks over addressing the nèeds of people needing affordable housing.
