  • The recent winter storm that impacted the Southern US was a historic event. Some areas, like Orleans Parish, experienced up to a foot of snow. The storm caused widespread power outages and business interruptions. Opterrix is a leading provider of weather data and analytics for the (re)insurance industry. Our snowfall totals are accurate and reliable, and they can be used to help insurance companies understand the impact of winter storms. In addition to snowfall totals, Opterrix can also visualize power outage data. This data can be used to identify areas where businesses are most likely to be impacted by power outages. By combining Opterrix snowfall totals with power outage data, insurance companies can get a more complete picture of winter storms' impacts. This information can then be used to make better decisions about assisting policyholders. If you are an insurance company interested in learning more about how Opterrix can help you identify risks suffering from business interruption during this winter storm and those in the future, please contact us today. https://lnkd.in/e2rZRNpv #WinterStorm #Insurance #BusinessInterruption #Opterrix #Snowfall #PowerOutage

🔥 Palisades Fire Update 🔥 A fast-moving brush fire has erupted in Pacific Palisades, California and has grown to over 1,300 acres within a matter of hours. The combination of strong Santa Ana winds and dry conditions has created a "perfect storm" for a wildfire in this area, which was noted yesterday by the National Weather Service. The Palisades Fire is an extremely dangerous event that will continue to spread as overnight wind gusts could exceed 90 mph. The Opterrix Wildfire Hotspot algorithm immediately detected this blaze and enables risk managers to proactively mitigate losses with streamlined coverage suspension capabilities. Opterrix customers also benefit from street-level policy details to expedite policyholder communication and post-event restoration. If your organization could benefit from proactive wildfire insights like these, schedule a live demo and discover how Opterrix can work for you: • Pinpoint policyholder locations in active fire zones • Rapidly assess potential exposure and losses • Proactively deploy resources and support • Strengthen your wildfire response strategy Don't wait for the next wildfire. • The Franklin Fire has engulfed parts of Malibu, California, forcing thousands to flee their homes. The blaze, which ignited near Pepperdine University late Monday night, has exploded in size. Dry conditions, dense vegetation, and powerful Santa Ana winds fuel the fire's explosive growth.   As of Wednesday morning, the fire had consumed nearly 4,000 acres and was only 7% contained. Firefighters are battling the flames on steep, rugged terrain, facing challenging conditions, including low humidity and the persistent threat of powerful wind gusts. These "sundowner winds" have been particularly problematic, pushing the fire in unpredictable directions and making it difficult to establish containment lines.   🛰️ Satellite-detected burning, proprietary data from Opterrix, shows fire growth mainly on the west and northwest sides of the fire perimeter. See it in action: Schedule a live demo today and discover how we can help you: • Pinpoint policyholder locations in active fire zones • Rapidly assess potential exposure and losses • Proactively deploy resources and support • Strengthen your wildfire response strategy Don't wait for the next wildfire. • A powerful magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck off the coast of Northern California in Humboldt County this morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The quake, which hit around 10:44 a.m. local time, triggered a tsunami warning from the National Weather Service (NWS) for coastal areas. The earthquake was felt throughout much of Northern California, with residents in San Francisco reporting a rolling motion that lasted several seconds. Aftershocks followed the main quake. The USGS issued a yellow alert, indicating localized but minimal damage. An estimated 5.3 million people were within the tsunami warning zone, and over 1.3 million people were close enough to the epicenter to have felt the tremor. #Earthquake #Tsunami
