“In a time when many community members feel powerless in the face of injustice, threat of racist violence or threats of deportation,” Stephanie Drenka says, “it is imperative that we continue to dream of collective liberation and build from history towards that future.”

2024 Rewind and Hello 2025... 2024 began with the question, "what is the purpose of purpose?" and that became my journey for the year. What is NOT my purpose - Blindly following - Say, Show but Not Act - Afraid to ask the unasked questions When the Orchid Giving Circle marked its 10th anniversary this year, I was reminded that meaningful change happens through persistent, compassionate connection. From our founding conversations about supporting the Asian community in Northeast Texas to awarding over $2.2M in grants, our sisterhood proved that small, intentional ACTIONS can create profound impact. This belief in purposeful connection guided my work across multiple domains in 24'. Receiving the Leaders in Diversity award from the Dallas Business Journal wasn't just personal recognition—it was a powerful affirmation that diversity isn't a checkbox, but a dynamic process of creating spaces where every voice can be authentically heard without fear of ASKING the UNASKED questions. Through my teaching podcast, #PODWalk, I discovered again and again how genuine curiosity transforms relationships. In one memorable conversation with Mandy Clark at ENP Media, I shared that "curiosity and genuine interest in getting to know someone's story is the rhythm of relationships." This became my north star, whether I was mentoring students at SMU Cox School of Business, advising boards, or convening community leaders. Three moments exemplified this philosophy: 1. "Leaders in Diversity Award" Celebrating perspectives that drive meaningful change https://lnkd.in/gaMctkmV 2. "Serving My Community - a life long purpose" Exploring how stepping into someone shoes creates deep understanding https://lnkd.in/gcqSKCnW 3. "Orchid Giving Circle 10th Anniversary" Proving that community-driven change starts with genuine conversations https://lnkd.in/gAy8Rn7H Serving on the board of AT&T Performing Arts Center has given me the honor to continue the work started by trailblazers 15 years ago and joining the advisory board of my alma mater, Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University is a reminder that life is a full circle that fill our cup of purpose. Looking ahead to 2025, I'm committed to expanding these circles of connection—bridging business innovation with purpose, amplifying diverse voices, and continuing to prove that true leadership is about creating environments where everyone can contribute their most authentic selves. To my students who challenge me, my Orchid sisters who dream boldly, and the leaders working to make our world more inclusive: your purpose fuels mine.

Timely pink and purple bursts of joy🎉 Wishing you joy and happiness as we embark in this new year. Three images inspired this post: 💗I was overjoyed to win and show off this stunning artwork by Tina Ngo at the Orchid Giving Circle annual gift exchange retreat. Her talent shines through in this piece, evoking funny memories of my childhood trying unsuccessfully to blow bubbles. 💜Witnessing the last lavender rose bloom unexpectedly before the impending Dallas freeze was truly a sight to behold as we readied our backyard for the weather ahead. 💓After deep introspection and insights from loved ones and coaching clients, I've chosen an anchor word for the year ahead. Rather than a New Year’s resolution, I've embraced the concept of an anchor word to focus my energy and purpose. Last year, "MOMENTUM" guided me to prioritize movement, progress, and cherished moments and MOMents, especially as a mother and with my mom. This year, I am dedicated to using my strengths as a connector, embodying the essence of a "BEACON." Beacons symbolize consistent light, trust, and hope, offering guidance and early warnings to beware for safety and well-being. The first six letters of my beloved hashtag #BeAConnector also spell out "BEACON," reinforcing my commitment to heart-based leadership from Matthew 5:16. As we mark the 5th anniversary of Wishing Out Loud LLC, the anchor word beacon serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of meaningful connections, being kind to ourselves and others, and being brave to keep wishing out loud. What’s your anchor word if you choose one? If you would like to catch up with me, I am hosting a virtual open house where you can join my Zoom room on Jan 14 between 11:00-1:00 pm ct to say hello, catch up, and meet other amazing friends in my network who drop in for a few moments. Registration link in the comments. #NewBeginnings #JoyfulStart #AnchorWord #wishingoutloudcoaching #BeAConnector Description of 3 photo collage: 1. Photo of me holding a black and white tape art image of Audrey Hepburn’s face blowing a pink bubble gum bubble in a black frame.standing next to Tina Ngo; 2. A close-up photo of a cut lavender blooming rose, and 3. A photo of my pink heart flashlight flashing with mini hearts on the wand.

Thank you Communities Foundation of Texas for your partnership and bringing awareness to the Giving Circles. Looking forward to our joint journey this year!
Champions of Collaboration: Giving circles are a growing global movement where people with shared values come together and give collectively. Giving circles not only provide financial support, but raise awareness and encourage volunteerism. “As we seek to grow community giving, we recognize the power and impact of pooling resources to address unmet needs through collective giving models,” said Wayne White, president and CEO at CFT. Two local giving circles, the Orchid Giving Circle and The Village Giving Circle, recently joined CFT. The two organizations have collectively awarded $3.5 million to 100 nonprofits since their founding. In addition to managing their technical platforms and grantmaking efforts, we provide the giving circles access to our local philanthropic expertise to further amplify their impact.
