In our line of work, everything feels urgent. We know we have work to do around dismantling workplace urgency, so we’re taking an extended winter break. OJTA will be closed from Dec. 21 to Jan. 6 so we can rest and connect with loved ones ahead of legislative session. We are thrilled to announce that Energy Trust’s Working Together Grants is now open for applications from nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations! Applicants can apply for grants up to $5,000 or up to $10,000 per organization to help their communities learn about energy & energy saving actions. The Oregon Department of Energy has launched a new $2 million grant program to support training for Oregon’s energy workforce. Grant funding will support professional training programs for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; home energy auditing and modeling; contractor business development; and home energy efficiency upgrades. Did you know? Houses of worship are three times more likely to adopt rooftop solar than other non-residential buildings, per the Department of Energy. And it’s all thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act. How? The IRS gives funds directly to faith-based organizations and other nonprofits to make clean energy upgrades to their buildings. Instead of waiting for tax returns, these organizations can move faster to install clean energy appliances, like solar panels, and enjoy their benefits.
