FLORES is a Large-scale Partnership to foster offshore renewable energies within the pact for skills promoted by the European Union. This is an EU-funded project of15 partners across 8 countries in Europe. Wel focus on the spread of skills through dedicated training offers, promotion of careers in the sector, an observatory of ORE skills, and the promotion of enduring partnerships to ensure the long-term success of this initiative.

Last week the European Parliament hosted a debate on vocational training for the #offshorewind, organized by #Tshore and hosted by Seán Kelly MEP. The coordinators of the #Shorewinner and #ORESkills projects contributed to explore how to join efforts to prepare the workforce for the offshore renewables in the different EU Sea basins. Last week we had so much fun at the Technopolis #TechFair in Belgium. Our colleagues from WindEurope showed to the 2,000 secondary school students, recent graduates and teachers the professional opportunities in the #Offshore #RenewableEnergies sector. They brought the card game developed during the FLORES project, so that students can discover the jobs offered by #ORE. Do you whant to know about farming in water? From 🦪 bivalves to 🍣seaweed or 🐟 freshwater fish, #aquaculture is the answer. Nancy Nevejan is an expert in this area and she explains in this interview how they control the production cycle, from larva/egg stages to the market. This is a booming area and a good example of the possibilities of ocean multiuse, where the combination of marine activities can maximise benefit while reducind impact for nature. 📢 Our report on ORE skills needs is out now! Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) has conducted a skills intelligence analysis to assess the current skills demand and supply in the Offshore Renewable Energy (#ORE) sector. Comparing the two, we have indentified existing gaps and shortages that need to be addressed. 💡 Our research shows that project managers are in highest demand, followed by ORE technicians, with half of the top 10 profiles being engineers. In the training side, most of the identified programmes are at the Master’s level, (EQF 7), revealing a significant gap in vocational training at levels 3 to 6. Today, we had a very active participation in the 7th #GOinterHUB, the leading #offshorewind congress celebrated in Ferrol, Spain, by our partner Asime Galicia, together with Navantia Seanergies, Windar Renovables & Xunta de Galicia. Our colleague Elsa García Mayoral, PhD from Centro Tecnológico del Mar – Fundación CETMAR, presented in the session about European projects. 🗣️ “Initiatives such as the European project FLORES are the way to enhance the qualification of professionals in the field of marine energy. This is one of the biggest challenges facing our industry, and we can only respond through a pact of capabilities at European level as we are launching in the OREskills partnership”. In the framework of the congress, we also had a meeting of the #OREskills partnerships, gathering together strategic partners to keep driving forward the skills needed in the sector.
