Today is Pansexual Pride Day! Pansexuality means experiencing attraction regardless of gender identity. It's about seeing the person, not the gender. Today we celebrate our pan community members who bring their authentic selves to STEM fields every day!

Today is #WorldAIDSDay - a time to show solidarity, raise awareness, and take action in the global fight against HIV/AIDS. This year's theme, "Collective Action: Sustain and Accelerate HIV Progress," emphasizes that ending the HIV epidemic requires everyone's commitment, especially during uncertain times. Together, we can educate ourselves and others about HIV/AIDS, combat stigma, and promote HIV testing and prevention in our communities.

On November 20, we observe Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), a solemn occasion honoring the memory of the transgender individuals who lost their lives to anti-transgender violence in 2024. We stand united in our community. We remember those we've lost and reaffirm our commitment to creating a world where everyone can live authentically without fear, especially Black trans women. To learn more about the 28 known individuals who died this year, we recommend this article from The Advocate. Please note the article does discuss details of their deaths and may be triggering. https://lnkd.in/gKxECCZg

Today marks the beginning of Transgender Awareness Week (November 13–19). Join us in celebrating, uplifting, and advocating for the transgender community. During this week, we're highlighting the importance of using correct pronouns and respecting gender identities in academic and professional settings. Small actions can make a big difference in creating welcoming environments, especially in STEM. By consistently using correct pronouns and respecting gender identities yourself, you can encourage others to do the same.

Today, we acknowledge Intersex Day of Solidarity and Remembrance, which took place on November 8th. Intersex individuals are born with sex characteristics that don't fit typical binary notions of male or female bodies. This day serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggles and discrimination faced by the intersex community. While some of these experiences may resonate with other members of the LGBTQ+ community, others are unique to intersex people. It's important to note that these challenges are often amplified by intersectional identities.
