A step in the right direction - "The Long Island Power Authority approved two utility-scale battery energy storage contracts on Wednesday, Dec. 18 — a 50-megawatt project on LIPA’s property that had formerly been slated to become the Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant, and a 79-megawatt facility on Rabro Drive in Hauppauge" according to the East End Beacon. Placing these facilities within commercial districts is the only way to go. Whether it's a battery facility, substation, onshore landing point, or solar arrays, companies need to understand the communities they are entering before fighting the NIMBY battle. We Long Islanders always knew there were game changers amongst us, and it's really sweet to see some locals get broader recognition. A hearty congrats to some of our close friends recognized by City & State as economic "trailblazers". Shout out to Mariah Dignan of Community Offshore Wind, Rosalie Drago of Haugland Group LLC, Andrea Bonilla at Vineyard Offshore and Ann-Marie Scheidt at Stony Brook University. What a great and diverse representation of our region. #economicdevelopment

A perfect list for Alanna Russo to be on!
Honored to have made City & State ‘s 2024 Responsible List 🫶🏻 which recognizes civic minded leaders who serve NY! 🍎 “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing’s going to get better. It’s not!” In the corporate social responsibility space, you must care and be passionate about the work to make a true impact.

And how big is it? How about 21 MW's. That's a lot of energy from a single turbine but Siemens Gamesa is almost ready to start testing one at their Danish test site. The platform already is built and the nacelle is enroute. The field is wide open since GE pulled out of their 18 MW turbine early this year. (Anyone remember the NY3 solicitation?). While there is budding competition from China, going into test phase is impressive. Read the full story. https://lnkd.in/eeXqxT64 #offshorewind #windturbines #renewableenergy

Massive renewable energy project in the heart of oil country and a win-win for all concerned. Congrats to Ørsted for committing to such a huge project and the State of Texas for partnering with them and The Nature Conservancy U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) estimates for 2024 are 440 GW of power generation from solar, and it keeps increasing.
A win-win for clean energy and conservation 🙌 Our new Mockingbird Solar Center in Texas is not only our largest solar farm – it also helps to preserve an important ecosystem and a rare piece of Texas’ land and heritage. During development, we joined forces with The Nature Conservancy in Texas to protect 953 acres of native tallgrass prairie adjacent to the solar farm – the same size as over 700 American football fields! Watch the video and hear from our partners and the local community about what this project means for them. And read more here: https://lnkd.in/dcJcuXFX

We’re celebrating our onshore success around the world 🌍 This year, we've achieved incredible milestones across solar, wind, and battery storage, demonstrating our commitment to a greener future. 🌱 In 2024, we’ve: → completed 2 GW of onshore projects in the US → reached more than 680 MW of developed onshore capacity in Germany → begun construction of phase 1 of our 160+ MW Gareenleen cluster – our first solar PV project in Ireland → taken FID on a 300 MW/600 MWh battery energy storage project in the UK. Together with our teams and partners, we’re progressing towards creating a world that runs entirely on green energy. And what better way to celebrate than with cake and colleagues at our offices! Congratulations to everyone involved 🎂

Building the big stuff. The first monopile was built for Equinor's Empire Wind 1 project. Still outside of our local manufacturing scope, it, along with the rest of the monopiles and transition pieces, are being built in the Netherlands by Sif Group. This comes on the heals of Equinor's award to Vestas for the turbines. Read the press release: https://lnkd.in/eNNfwbpR #offshorewind #renewableenergy #manufacturing #turbines
