We are glad to have you part of the community!
So I became part of the great 2023/2024 layoffs statistics back in April which was honestly a mixed bag for me. I mean, it's never great to be let go but I had been going through the motions for a while, not to mention my overall headspace had been flatlining. I had been working straight with no employment breaks since junior year in high school, so this has been my longest time off in a while. With the surplus of free time, I figured this might be my "Before I did <great successful thing> I was doing so and so before I got laid off" character arc. The two things that I was really gungho about back in highschool were standup comedy and video game development. I always felt like I could never pull either of those off, so I always just never tried or just created excuses for myself. The big one for the video game thing was that the industry is just so volatile and just not great job security wise. Well now everything's pretty uh not great so, I said why not and started getting after it. It's been some of the most fun I've had in a long time. Thanks to [P1] Games for creating and maintaining a community where people like myself don't have to walk this path alone. here's some progress pics on a game my team have been working on in the last week.
