Beautiful morning on Bicentennial Unity Plaza honoring Indiana’s longest-serving U.S. Senator and former Mayor of Indianapolis, the late Richard Lugar. Before his passing in July, Jim Morris, PS&E Vice Chairman and former Chief of Staff for Mayor Lugar, spent countless hours organizing this gathering of state and national officials, community leaders and performers. He was still with us today gazing upon attendees from the Indiana Legends Mural which overlooks Bicentennial Unity Plaza. A statue of Lugar was revealed after remarks from Pastor Rob Fuquay, Mayor Joe Hogsett, Governor Eric Holcomb and Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

This weekend, we unveiled a new banner honoring the extraordinary legacy that Jim Morris left on our franchise, our city, and our state. Jim continually challenged us to be better, to think bigger, and to measure our successes by how well we care for our most vulnerable people. His legacy will be forever memorialized in the rafters of Gainbridge Fieldhouse as a reminder for us all to care for one another, and to strive for success on and off the court.
