  • Portfolio company Semperis, a pioneer in identity-driven cyber resilience, published new research on ransomware holiday risks. With the holiday season underway, opportunistic threat actors are expected to increase their attacks when employee distractions are higher. It is paramount that companies remain vigilant and bolster their defenses during these periods to combat the spike in cyberattacks.  Paladin Global Institute President Kemba Walden, Paladin Managing Director & Global Security Expert Ciaran Martin, and Paladin Senior Strategic Advisor Chris Inglis served as contributing experts to this research. Companies must build resilience into networks to combat cyberattacks that frequently impact companies during transitions and holiday seasons.   Read the full report: https://bit.ly/3Bvejby

  • Today, Paladin Global Institute announced the release of a new report on “Building Civics Concepts in STEM and the Tech Sector” by Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). The report underscores the urgent need to invest in the expansion of civic knowledge and engagement across the STEM and technology sectors. Tech innovators must be given ample resources to think critically about the impacts of their work on global democracies. With cutting-edge technology creating new opportunities, as well as new threats, leaders need additional skills to best inform our government’s tech-related decisions. • “The vast majority of cyber-attacks have everything to do with psychology and very little to do with technology, hence the surge in cyber criminality.” The Financial Times features a letter from Paladin investor Nazo Moosa, responding to Innovation Editor John Thornhill’s recent observations on cybercrime: https://lnkd.in/eNaPhWDw. Nazo shares our view that cyberattacks are based on “social engineering”, succeeding because they abuse our natural tendency to trust. “We need to factor the human into the equation when developing tech solutions”, she emphasises. This is what drives Paladin’s commitment to investing in “safety tech”. Paladin recognised that the surge in cyber criminality demanded a new way of thinking and supported the development of research, led by our Chief Safety Tech adviser and cyberpsychologist, Prof. Mary Aiken. Only through a combination of cyber safety and cybersecurity can we deliver greater resilience and protection. Look out for 2024’s report on the International State of Safety Tech, coming soon. #cybersecurity #safetytech
