At last night's City Council meeting, Nancy Rotering, Mayor of Highland Park, issued a Proclamation recognizing Habitat Highland Park for its incredible efforts in certifying Highland Park as a Community Wildlife Habitat! Thanks to Liz Ricketts, the Park District of Highland Park's Natural Areas Manager, and her team, 13 of our nature areas are now officially registered as wildlife habitats, meeting the National Wildlife Federation requirements. A big win for nature and our community! 🌱

The Park District of Highland Park is committed to enhancing the quality of life for its residents by offering recreational programs, beautiful parks, and natural areas for the community to enjoy. Founded in 1909, the Park District operates and manages more than 650 acres of land in 44 park areas including nearly a linear mile of Lake Michigan shoreline. The District serves over 30,000 residents of Highland Park, Deerfield’s King’s Cove residents that attend District 112 schools, and portions of the Town of Fort Sheridan. In excess of 2,800 recreation and seasonal programs for all ages and interests are offered annually at the indoor and outdoor facilities including a fitness center, indoor ice arena, aquatic park, indoor tennis courts, and a golf course. 🌟 We are thrilled to announce the results of this year’s Duck Derby! Thanks to the incredible support and enthusiasm from our community, the race was a quacking success! 👏 Together, we raised $775. All proceeds benefit the Parks Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit providing scholarships to ensure that all Highwood and Highland Park families can participate in Park District programs and supporting and enhancing exceptional Park District projects.
