He is a retired Army Veteran and member of the 75th Ranger Regiment class of 14-81. In thinking about how race plays out in America, whether you're born here or have immigrated young, at some point there comes the "aha💡" moment when you realize one of these things is not like the other. As Farah put it for her, it was the moment race was ascribed to her. One life lesson most African-Americans of a certain age have always been taught - No matter the space, position, accomplishments, or accolades, if moving in white spaces, never forget - You'll always be seen as Black before anything else.
