This past Thursday(9/12) our Director of Training & Development Michele Martinez and her family had a horrible tragedy hit, as their home was lost in a devastating fire. Immediately friends, family and the community responded to help in numerous ways. Fundraiser for Michele Martinez by Katie Winters-Carter : Help Michele Recover After Devastating Fire (gofundme.com) Partners Interpreting wants to extend a special thanks to Association of Language Companies (ALC) leadership and members for their support both as individuals & companies for their generosity. Additionally a special shout out to Tipalti, who was a vendor at the recent Association of Language Companies Summit. One of their amazing Tipalti staff members in attendance was Sebastian Wong. Sebastian Wong topped the leaderboard at the Partners Interpreting 'Swing to Win' golf long drive contest and won a brand new Meta Quest 3. Sebastian graciously declined accepting the gift and instead donated back the $$ value to support Michele. This thoughtful gesture demonstrated another act of kindness from this amazing community. So thank you Sebastian Wong and Tipalti! This is a slow and tedious road back for the family as you can imagine, so again we extend our appreciation and thanks on behalf of Michele and her family for the continued support.

Disability is incredibly diverse, with a spectrum of experiences and challenges that vary greatly from person to person. Assuming that someone doesn't have a disability because they don't fit a certain stereotype is not only inaccurate but also dismissive of the diversity within the disability community. As sign language interpreters and providers of captioning services, it's crucial for us to recognize and honor this diversity in order to effectively serve all individuals that are Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, DeafBlind and ALL disabilities. Thank you Jamie for highlighting this important message!

Disability is diverse. Disability has no one appearance, no one experience, and no two individuals are the same. When we tell someone they don't look Disabled, we are telling them Disability is a singular experience. It is not. When we do this, we are failing to understand the diversity of Disability. Image Description: The text reads, “Diversity is not singular”. Below are two statements and a piece of clipart read: Individually, a person is not diverse - clipart or a stick person. But a person's experiences and perspectives contribute to group diversity - clipart of a group of stick people heads who all appear different. Text continues, “Disability is also not a singular experience”. Below are five stick people representing both visible and non-visible Disability. The text concludes, “So saying you don't look Disabled fails to recognise the diversity of Disability”. #DisabilityInclusion #DiversityAndInclusion #Ableism #SaturdayVibes
