  • 🥳🥳🥳 IT'S HERE! 🥳🥳🥳 Over the course of this year, the drug pricing provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) are set to bring about transformative changes in how older Americans manage the cost of their medication. One key provision taking effect TODAY? A $2,000 annual cap on out-of-pocket drug expenses! This spending cap promises significant savings for over 3 million recipients in its first year, addressing a critical financial burden for those with high prescription drug costs.

  • For over 40 years, Judy has battled psoriatic arthritis, but the cost of her medication, Enbrel, has been another fight entirely. Last year, she paid more than $9,000 out-of-pocket, and in the past she’s been forced to skip doses. Starting in 2025, Medicare will limit out-of-pocket costs to $2,000 a year, giving Judy and millions of other patients on Medicare long-overdue financial relief. This change will ease a huge burden, allowing Judy and her husband to focus on enjoying their retirement instead of worrying about sky-high drug prices. • Lynn dedicated her career to helping cancer patients access the care they need. Now, in retirement, she’s forced to confront a monthly $17,000 price tag for the medicine keeping her leukemia at bay. Like so many patients, Lynn has been left at the mercy of grants and assistance programs just to survive. But starting in January 2025, the Inflation Reduction Act will change that. Medicare’s $2,000 annual out-of-pocket cap will bring life-saving relief to Lynn and millions of other patients who rely on essential, high-priced medicines. For Lynn, this means no longer living under the constant threat of losing access to treatment. Patients shouldn’t have to fight for their lives and for affordable medicines. Lynn’s story highlights the life-changing—and life-saving—impact of these reforms. Read Lynn’s LTE here: https://lnkd.in/eEV6hNHZ

  • For far too long, patients like Steven have been burdened by sky-high out-of-pocket costs for essential medicines. At 72, Steven has had to work multiple jobs, delay retirement, and even ration medications just to survive. This is unacceptable. But, relief is on the way. Starting in 2025, Medicare will cap out-of-pocket drug costs at $2,000 per year—offering life-changing financial relief for millions of patients like Steven. No one should be forced to work into their 70s or ration their medications just to afford the medicines they need to live. This progress is proof that when patients speak up, change is possible. • Congress is set to vote on a government funding bill, and key drug pricing reforms are at risk of being removed. These reforms would: - Curb Big Pharma’s patent abuse (S.150) - Speed up generic drug approvals (Q1/Q2) - Rein in PBMs and increase transparency (S.2973) Patients have fought hard for these measures, and we can’t afford to lose them. Send a letter to Congress now: https://lnkd.in/dGp-Y92m
