Burnout is a significant problem among health providers on both sides of the desk. Many are more familiar with identification and management of burnout than prevention, and a focus on maintaining wellbeing. This presentation will review symptoms and cause of burnout, the impact on patient safety, and the scope of the problem. Practical tools for burnout such as the Malach Burnout Inventory will be discussed, as will strategies related to wellbeing. 12 years ago today our campus at Pavillon went tobacco free. This date is always memorable to me.
