PECO. The future is on.

About us

Advancing smart energy to provide safe, reliable, affordable and clean energy and energy services for our customers and the communities we serve. With a history of more than 130 years of service to the Greater Philadelphia region, PECO has a long-standing commitment to a culture of excellence. Formerly, Philadelphia Electric Company, PECO was incorporated in 1902 but finds it origins in The Brush Electric Light Company of Philadelphia, which was formed in 1881. One of the oldest and largest utility companies in the United States, PECO has its origins in the work of Thomas Edison. As invention brought new conveniences, population grew and industry developed, PECO grew to meet the increasing demand of its customers. The history and evolution of electricity and natural gas development, distribution and consumption suggests that demand for both will continue to increase. PECO is the steward of efforts to help customers make better choices about energy usage and is focused on setting the example as an environmental leader. Our company's legacy is one of innovation and commitment to learning. It is also about a commitment to people, our customers.

💡⚡️Day 4: 5.54AM reporting for storm duty! Did you know from top to bottom every employee at PECO performs a critical role in storm restoration? At our Storm Center, the teams gather for 12 hour shifts manned 24/7 to develop the strategy for storm restoration, including customer impact, crew coordination, vegetation management and communications. It’s all hands on deck with the safety of our crews as our utmost priority along with getting the power back on for our customers. Proud to work with best and brightest team at Exelon. Our crews are working for even longer shifts while braving the freezing temperatures, danger and elements to serve you. Huge thank you to our Exelon sister utility from Chicago for sending in crews! We even had crews support from Canada! It might take a little longer than desired sometimes but I can assure you, restoration challenges can be big, our crews are working efficiently using the best equipment and technology. Hoping when you see a PECO truck or crew, you know we are working hard for you!⛈️⚡️💡

PECO celebrates World Wetlands Day to raise awareness of their vital role in our ecosystem. Wetlands are crucial natural resources that buffer floods, ease droughts, absorb rainfall, mitigate storm surges, and provide habitat for diverse species. PECO prioritizes wetland protection by identifying, delineating, and avoiding them in all projects.
