🌟 Discovering New Horizons in Maryland 🌟 Part 2 of our June Business Mission brought us to the great state of Maryland! Leading a business delegation to Maryland for the Innovation Maryland SelectUSA Spinoff Tour 2024 was an eye-opener! Over two days, we explored Maryland’s diverse economy, top-notch universities, cutting-edge R&D, and exceptional quality of life. The state’s strengths in tech, life sciences, and logistics were on full display. Day 1 featured a seminar on Maryland’s international ecosystem and resources for global companies, followed by a visit to the University of Maryland. We saw firsthand how UMD fosters innovation and entrepreneurship through initiatives like the Capital One Tech Incubator and The Startup Shell. Day 2 split us into groups for deep dives into technology, life sciences, and logistics. Through the two days, we visited key ecosystem partners such as the Baltimore Cyber Range (BCR Cyber), University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing, BWI Air Cargo Complex and Amazon Air, Tradepoint Atlantic, Early Charm, and Maryland companies like Ion Storage Systems, Penacity, LLC, Theradaptive and Under Armour. We also visited various Maryland Global Gateway Soft Landing partners, including the Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation and Innovation Station Business Incubator; Howard County Economic Development Authority and the Maryland Innovation Center, bwtech@UMBC Research and Technology Park, and Frederick Innovative Technology Center, Inc and the Frederick County Office of Economic Development. The Maryland Global Gateway program offers international companies the chance to test the U.S. market affordably, with funding available for eligible companies. We were impressed by the range of services and support Maryland offers across sectors and company size. NIST Releases Version 2.0 of Landmark Cybersecurity Framework "The CSF 2.0, which supports implementation of the National Cybersecurity Strategy, has an expanded scope that goes beyond protecting critical infrastructure, such as hospitals and power plants, to all organizations in any sector. It also has a new focus on governance, which encompasses how organizations make and carry out informed decisions on cybersecurity strategy. The CSF’s governance component emphasizes that cybersecurity is a major source of enterprise risk that senior leaders should consider alongside others such as finance and reputation." #NIST #cybersecurity #CSF2 #governance
