Happy New Year Pendragon Security Here we are, with 2025 knocking on the door. **My Professional Goals for 2025:** I turned 52 this year, and over the last couple of weeks, I've spent considerable time reflecting on my wins and losses, successes and failures in my career. In summary, my biggest issue has been waiting for others to present me with opportunities. I've spent too long thinking that my best efforts were sufficient, and I’ve neglected to recognize the depth of my skill set and what it can contribute. I’ve forgotten my accomplishments and the countless instances of "impossibility" I've proven wrong. I’ve expected others to value my abilities and achievements, and I’ve waited for someone to validate my success as worthy of greater opportunities. In 2025, that all changes. If I had to sum up 2024 from a cybersecurity standpoint, it would probably be "Hype, Hype, Hype." It feels like everything in 2024, from emerging technologies like LLM, AI, and quantum to statements from governing bodies to messaging coming out of the federal government, was always the best, the worst, it's going to save us all, or it's going to destroy us all. I want to end 2024 with a real simple message: "Back to basics." Let's make 2025 the year that everyone starts down the CIS path. Let's get a hardware and software inventory. Do that.
