About us
A hidden treasure located 10 miles south of Edinburgh, Penicuik Estate is home to one of Scotland’s finest designed landscapes. Our story begins in 1654. Today, almost 400 years later, we are launching our next chapter. Inspired by our predecessors, our mission is to manage our landscape holistically, combining nature restoration, heritage conservation and hospitality to create a destination landscape welcoming visitors from near and far. Our launch begins this year with a collection of lovingly restored cottages, landscape cabins, and Penicuik House, a 13-bed exclusive use property and events venue. We are also upgrading and expanding our 20 km of trails, connecting people to nature, and improving access to our beautiful historic landscape.

Penicuik Estate is rich with architectural and historical treasures, and the Ramsay Monument is just one highlight. Set atop the Cauldshoulders Ridge and marking the end of the views from Old Penicuik House, is an ashlar stone obelisk, pierced by three oval apertures on an arched base. It was built by Sir James (3rd Baronet) to commemorate the poet Allan Ramsay. Whether framed by the vibrant greens of Spring, the warm hues of Autumn, or the crisp light of Winter, the Ramsay Monument is beautiful in any season. https://lnkd.in/e6EK4N3B
