  • The Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center stroke team is committed to improving health through outreach and education. Whether at Science Night at Paxtonia Elementary School, local farmers markets or food banks, they’re teaching communities about stroke prevention and the importance of acting fast. Using the acronym BE FAST (Balance, Eyes, Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call 911), the team is spreading lifesaving knowledge and ensuring more people recognize the signs of stroke and get help when seconds matter most. By teaching the warning signs and risk factors for stroke, the team hopes to empower communities to act quickly when every second counts. Together, we can save lives. 💙

  • 🎂 Going the extra mile! When three nurses in the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Emergency Department learned a patient was celebrating her 103rd birthday, they went out of their way to make it extra special —purchasing special treats from the gift shop to surprise her. Their kindness and dedication embody what Penn State Health is all about — caring for patients not just as caregivers, but as people. Join us in celebrating these incredible nurses for making a milestone moment even more memorable! 💙

  • Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is now the third Army National Guard Training Center in the U.S. — and the first on the East Coast — to offer specialized trauma and deployment skills training. 💙 Since Jan. 27, Air National Guard members have trained alongside our expert clinicians at Pennsylvania’s only Level I Trauma Center for both children and adults. Through the Hershey Trauma, Readiness, Education and Training Program, they’ve gained hands-on experience in real-world medical scenarios to prepare for emergency response and deployment. Today, their training culminated in an intensive mass casualty simulation, where the Life Lion team played a vital role—landing on-site to load and transport simulated patients, reinforcing the importance of aeromedical evacuation in emergency response. The day concluded with a graduation ceremony honoring their achievements, joined by members of the PA Air National Guard and state legislators who recognize the value of this critical training. Penn State Health is proud to support those who serve through partnerships that strengthen our communities. 👏 Join us in celebrating this milestone and thanking the National Guard members for their service!
